• Belts fourth homer
Riley went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, two runs scored and three RBI in Friday's win over Tampa Bay.

Advice: Riley hit an RBI double in the first inning before hammering a two-run homer in the second. It was just his fourth homer of the year and first since May 3, snapping a 23-game drought. During that homerless streak, he posted a brutal .462 OPS. Riley is now slashing .230/.296/.357 with 17 extra-base hits and 23 RBI through 54 games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:18 pm

  • Austin Riley wakes up with three hits, homer
Austin Riley went 3-for-4 with a home run, double, three RBI, and two runs scored against the Rays on Friday.

Advice: Finally, some signs of life from Riley. His home run was hammered 107.3 MPH and soared 422 feet. All three of his batted balls were hit at least 104 MPH and this feels like it could be the end of Riley’s prolonged cold start this season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:04 pm

  • Eduardo Rodriguez getting follow-up MRI Saturday
Eduardo Rodriguez (lat) will undergo a follow-up MRI exam on Saturday.

Advice: Rodriguez has increased his throwing distance to 105 feet in recent days and if all goes well with Saturday’s check-up, he could be cleared to throw off of a mound for the first time. The Diamondbacks are taking every possible precaution here, but they’re hopeful that Rodriguez will be able to join the rotation at some point around the All-Star break. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:11 pm
  • Playing catch Friday
Romano (elbow) threw from 90 feet Friday, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Romano resumed his throwing program Monday and has already been stretched out to 90 feet. The 31-year-old has been brought along slowly since being placed on the 15-day IL with elbow inflammation and it's unclear if he'll require a rehab assignment at this point. Yimi Garcia has earned three saves since Romano went down and should continue to operate as Toronto's closer in Romano's absence. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:11 pm

  • Struggles continue Thursday
Riley went 0-for-5 with a strikeout in Thursday's win over the Orioles.

Advice: The third baseman's been dropped down to fifth in the order, even with lefty-hander Cole Irvin on the mound for Baltimore on Thursday, but it hasn't helped wake up Riley's bat. His last homer came May 3, and in 16 games since he returned from an intercostal strain he's slashing just .161/.212/.194 with two RBI and a 4:17 BB:K. Riley's track record says he will heat up at some point this summer, and his Statcast profile suggests there's a great deal of bad luck contributing to his numbers this season -- he's in the 91st percentile in max exit velocity, 90th percentile in bat speed and 82nd percentile in hard-hit rate. • Launches seventh homer
Pages went 2-for-4 with a solo homer in Thursday's loss to the Rangers.

Advice: Pages singled before taking Michael Lorenzen deep for a solo shot in the seventh inning, giving the outfielder his second multi-hit performance in his last three games. He's now batting .378 in June with two homers, three RBI and eight runs scored. Pages has also walked seven times already this month after drawing just four free passes through all of May. • Swats clutch homer
Rodriguez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Thursday in an extra-inning loss to the White Sox.

Advice: Rodriguez was hitless in his first three at-bats but came up big in his fourth trip to the plate, smashing a game-tying solo shot in the bottom of the ninth inning. The long ball was just his second across 17 contests since he went deep in back-to-back games May 25-26. Rodriguez has 16 thefts this season but has been fairly disappointing otherwise with just six homers, 26 RBI, 34 runs and a .268/.317/.354 slash line through 300 plate appearances. • Andy Pages swats seventh homer in loss to Rangers
Andy Pages connected on a solo homer in a loss to the Rangers for the Dodgers on Thursday.

Advice: Pages took Michael Lorenzen deep for the Dodgers only run of the game. That gives Pages seven homers and 20 RBI, and the roundtripper along with a single sees the slash go up to .270/.320/.427. Rotoworld Thursday, 10:09 pm

  • J-Rod hits game-tying homer in ninth vs. White Sox
Julio Rodríguez hit a game-tying homer in the ninth inning against the White Sox, but the Mariners fell to Chicago in extra-innings.

Advice: With the Mariners trailing 2-1, J-Rod obliterated a Michael Kopech fastball to right-center field that tied the game at 2-2. The outfielder now has six homers on the season; a disappointing total for a player who many (justifiably) thought would be among the league leaders in 2024. Anyone who saw his swing tonight knows that he’s capable of — and likely going to — doing much more going forward. Rotoworld Thursday, 9:23 pm
