    McKenzie tossed three innings, allowing three runs on three hits and four walks while striking out six batters in Sunday's 6-5 win over the Blue Jays. He did not factor into the decision.

    Advice: McKenzie was challenged early versus Toronto, giving up a two-run home run to Vladimir Guerrero in the top of the first inning. He later gave up a leadoff homer to Spencer Horwitz in the third, which was ultimately his final inning on the mound. McKenzie failed to pitch past the third inning for the second consecutive start Sunday, throwing just 41 of his 74 total pitches for strikes, while the four walks matched his total from his loss Tuesday versus Seattle.     Scott allowed two hits and a walk in a scoreless inning Sunday, striking out one and earning a save over the Mariners.

    Advice: Scott loaded the bases with two outs but managed to finish off the 6-4 win unscathed. He tossed 16 of 22 pitches for strikes and notched his first save since Jun 11. He blew his last save chance June 13 but has since turned in five straight scoreless innings. Scott has nine saves with a 1.64 ERA and a 35:23 K:BB through 33 innings.     Advice: Buxton has an extra-base hit in each of his last three games. This was his first multi-hit effort since June 13. He's hitting .246 (16-for-65) over 18 games in June, right in line with his .245 batting average for the season. Buxton has added a .702 OPS, five homers, 25 RBI, 26 runs scored, five stolen bases, 11 doubles and three triples across 58 contests.     Valdez (6-5) allowed a run on six hits and two walks over seven innings Sunday, striking out seven and earning a win against Baltimore.

    Advice: Valdez rolled through five shutout frames without facing too much trouble before Jordan Westburg belted a solo shot in the sixth inning. The Astros gave Valdez plenty of run support as he halted a brief two-start losing streak. It was the third time this year he's struck out at least seven batters, and each of those outings have come in his last eight starts. He's produced an impressive 2.73 ERA through 33 innings this month, lowering his season mark to 3.68 across 80.2 frames.   • Byron Buxton goes deep to lead Twins on Sunday
    Byron Buxton homered, doubled and drove in a pair of runs on Sunday afternoon, leading the Twins to a 3-0 victory over the Athletics in Oakland.

    Advice: Buxton opened the scoring in the ballgame with a monstrous 432-foot (112.7 mph EV) solo shot on the first pitch that he saw from Hogan Harris in the second inning. He then laced a run-scoring double into center field in the seventh inning that extended the Twins’ lead to 2-0.   • Framber Valdez dazzles against Orioles
    Framber Valdez allowed one run on six hits in seven innings in a win over the Orioles on Sunday.

    Advice: Valdez struck out seven and walked two on the day. He allowed just one extra-base hit, but it happened to be a solo home run to Jordan Westburg. The left-hander induced 11 whiffs on 45 swings for a 24 percent whiff rate and 34 percent CSW against a really talented offense. That’s now back-to-back really strong starts for Valdez after a rough outing against the Giants. He’ll carry a 3.68 ERA into a plus matchup against the Mets next week.     Triston McKenzie allowed three runs in three innings on Sunday against the Blue Jays. He struck out six and walked four before a rain delay ended his start.

    Tanner Scott earned the save Sunday over the Mariners after allowing two hits and a walk. He also struck out one batter.

    Aaron Judge is at designated hitter for Sunday’s series finale against the Braves.

    Advice: Judge will likely spend additional time at designated hitter moving forward in the wake of Giancarlo Stanton’s unfortunate hamstring injury. The 32-year-old generational talent slugged his major league-leading 28th home run of the season during Saturday night’s win at Yankee Stadium and is in the midst of one of the best extended stretches of his career. It can only be a positive thing for his immediate health for him to get a break from playing center field everyday, at least for a few weeks leading into next month’s All-Star break.
