    Jazz Chisholm Jr. was scratched from Wednesday’s lineup because of right hamstring tightness.

    Advice: He’s supposed to be available off the bench, but the Marlins changed their minds about starting him at DH. It’s just the third time this season that he’s been out of the starting lineup and the first time due to injury. Vidal Bruján is playing center field today after his game-winning hit last night. Chisholm will hope to return to the lineup Friday against the Mariners following the team's off day Thursday. Vidal Brujan will cover center field Wednesday while Chisholm exits the lineup.     Advice: Crawford got the Mariners on the board with a two-run blast off Triston McKenzie in the third inning before adding a third RBI with a double in the fourth. Crawford had gone just 1-for-25 with no extra-base hits in seven games prior to Tuesday.     Irvin (5-6) took the loss Tuesday as the Nationals fell 5-0 to the Diamondbacks, giving up four runs on eight hits and four walks over five innings. He struck out two.

    Advice: A lack of offensive support gave the right-hander no margin for error, but Irvin did himself no favors by tossing first-pitch strikes to only 11 of the 22 batters he faced and issuing a season high in free passes. In fact, the 27-year-old hadn't walked more than two batters in any 2024 start prior to Tuesday.     Smith served as the designated hitter and went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Tuesday's 7-6 loss to the Mets.

    Advice: Smith returned to the starting lineup Tuesday after battling a hamstring issue since late last week. He was given a soft re-entry as the DH and could return to his normal duties as the fill-in third baseman for the injured Josh Jung (wrist). The surprisingly productive Smith has been a boon to the Rangers' offense which has missed Jung's bat. The right-hander is quickly growing into a trusted starter for the Brewers amid the team's brutal run of injuries to pitchers. Myers has a 3.26 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 42:16 K:BB through 47 innings over 10 appearances (nine starts) this year. He doesn't stand out by most metrics, though he's been able to use his four-seam fastball, slider and changeup effectively so far. Myers is projected to make his next start on the road at San Diego.     Tobias Myers blanked the Angels for 6 1/3 innings in the Brewers’ 6-3 victory Tuesday.

    Advice: Myers moved to 4-2 with his third consecutive gem; he’s allowed just one run over 20 1/3 innings his last three times out. There’s little here to suggest continued dominance for Myers, but the Brewers have gotten quality results out of average arms and they back their pitchers with above average offense and defense.     Josh Smith went 2-for-4 and hit a three-run homer Tuesday in the loss to the Mets.

    Advice: We’re still not really buying into Smith’s terrific start to the season, but there’s little doubt that he’ll remain in the Rangers lineup after Josh Jung returns. He’s batting .298/.386/.451 through 247 at-bats, even though his exit velocity numbers are actually worse than when he hit .185/.304/.328 last season.
