• Walks four in win
Lopez (6-2) allowed two runs on four hits and four walks while striking out five over five innings to earn the win in Game 1 of Wednesday's doubleheader versus the Cardinals.

Advice: By his lofty standards this season, this wasn't a great performance for Lopez, but it was still enough for his third straight win. He hadn't allowed a run over his last two starts, and he's walked multiple batters just twice in his last seven outings. The right-hander is now at a 1.70 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 81:27 K:BB through 79.1 innings over 14 starts in 2024. His next start is projected to be at home versus the Giants. Rotowire.com Today, 2:48 pm

  • Jarred Kelenic goes 3-for-5, homers in Braves’ win
Jarred Kelenic went 3-for-5 with a homer, three RBI and a steal in the Braves’ 6-2 victory over the Cardinals in the first game of Wednesday’s doubleheader.

Advice: We’re still not all in on the Kelenaissance here, but the 24-year-old should continue to offer mixed-league value while leading off regularly for the Braves. The homer today was his eighth in his last 38 games (and eighth in 64 games for the year). Rotoworld Today, 2:45 pm

  • Reynaldo López holds Cardinals to two runs in win
Reynaldo López defeated the Cardinals by allowing two runs in five innings in the first game of Wednesday’s doubleheader.

Advice: López certainly wasn’t at his sharpest today, but the Cardinals came away with just one run each time they loaded the bases against him. The Braves had bullpen help ready to go the latter time, when Brendon Donovan was up with two outs in the fifth. Donovan went on to hit a sharp liner, but it was right at Jarred Kelenic in center, keeping the Braves’ lead intact. Rotoworld Today, 2:45 pm

  • Downplays shoulder injury
Turnbull said after Wednesday's 6-2 win over the Tigers that he felt "a little grab" in his right shoulder during his penultimate pitch of the third inning but noted that he isn't especially concerned about the injury, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Advice: Making his first start for the Phillies since April 30 as a replacement in the rotation for Taijuan Walker (finger), Turnbull struck out two and allowed one run on one hit and two walks before leaving the game following the bottom of the third inning. The Phillies labeled his injury as a sore shoulder, but he'll undergo further testing Thursday as the team looks to get a more precise diagnosis. The upcoming tests should also help clarify whether Turnbull will be ready to go for his next turn through the rotation, which would fall next week in Chicago at Wrigley Field. Michael Mercado would likely be the next man up to enter the rotation if Turnbull needs to join Walker on the 15-day injured list. Rotowire.com Today, 1:52 pm

  • Candelario dealing with hamstring tendinitis
Reds’ manager David Bell told reporters that Jeimer Candelario was held out of the team’s starting lineup on Wednesday due to hamstring tendinitis.

Advice: The injury isn’t believed to be serious, and sounds like something the 30-year-old slugger has been dealing with for a while. He’s considered day-to-day. On the season, Candelario is slashing a respectable .245/.298/.480 with 14 homers, 39 RBI and three stolen bases. Rotoworld Today, 1:02 pm

  • Dealing with hamstring tendinitis
Reds manager David Bell clarified Wednesday that Candelario is dealing with hamstring tendinitis and is considered day-to-day, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Advice: Candelario has been nursing the issue for more than a week, with Bell saying before Wednesday's loss to the Pirates that the injury is "progressively not getting better." However, the team doesn't seem to have any plans at this time to put Candelario on the 10-day injured list. Even if Candelario avoids the IL, he could still be deployed at designated hitter for a few games to ease the stress on his legs. Rotowire.com Today, 12:57 pm

  • Leaves early with sore shoulder
Turnbull was removed from his start in Wednesday's game against the Tigers after three innings due to a sore right shoulder, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. He struck out two and allowed one earned run on one hit and two walks before exiting the contest.

Advice: Manager Rob Thomson previously said that Turnbull was being targeted for around 70 pitches in his first start since April 30, but the right-hander lasted just 36 pitches before bowing out with the shoulder issue. Turnbull will likely be put through more thorough testing after the game as the Phillies look to determine the full extent of the injury, but he could be at risk of landing on the 15-day injured list alongside Taijuan Walker (finger), whom he had replaced in the rotation. • Spencer Turnbull exits start with sore shoulder
Spencer Turnbull left Wednesday’s start against the Tigers after three innings with right shoulder soreness.

Advice: Turnbull hadn’t pitched more than three innings since Apr. 30, so he wasn’t expected to go deep into this one. Nevertheless, the Phillies were probably aiming for one more inning from him today. Turnbull allowed one run before being replaced by fellow former Tiger Gregory Soto. Rotoworld Today, 11:11 am

  • Clubs homer Tuesday
Freeman went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Tuesday in a 4-3 win against the White Sox.

Advice: Freeman's two-run shot in the third inning tied the game at 3-3, and Shohei Ohtani's RBI single one frame later provided the decisive run. The long ball was Freeman's sixth in a superb June during which he's slashed .338/.433/.650 with 15 RBI, 19 runs, two stolen bases and a 14:12 BB:K. The veteran first baseman is tied for fourth in the league with 47 walks on the season, and his 13.7 percent walk rate is on pace for a career-best mark, excluding the abbreviated 60-game 2020 campaign.
