    • Records 11th save
Scott earned a save against the Phillies on Thursday, striking out one batter in a perfect ninth inning.

Advice: Scott made quick work of Philadelphia in the ninth frame, retiring the side in order on nine pitches. The lefty closer has not given up a run in any of his past seven outings, tallying a win and three saves despite a mediocre 5:3 K:BB over seven innings during that span. Scott is 11-for-13 in save chances on the season and has an excellent 1.54 ERA across 35 frames. Rotowire.com 34 minutes ago
    • Secures first career save
Hodge worked around a hit to toss a scoreless 10th inning and earn the save in Thursday's 5-3 win over the Giants. He struck out one.

Advice: Incumbent closer Hector Neris pitched a clean ninth inning, then Hodge closed the door in the 10th, giving the rookie his first career MLB save. The 23-year-old righty has been solid so far with a 1.80 ERA and 15 strikeouts across 10 innings. The veteran Neris should stick in the closer role for now, but Hodge seems to be a viable option if the need arises. Rotowire.com Today, 7:55 pm

    • McArthur picks up 14th save against Royals
James McArthur tossed a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Guardians on Thursday.

Advice: The save was his 14th of the season. McArthur has a 4.41 ERA after another scoreless outing. There’s no question that he’s the Royals’ best option for saves going forward. Rotoworld Today, 7:36 pm
    • Lively strikes out five in loss to Royals Thursday
Ben Lively allowed two runs in six innings and took the loss against the Royals on Thursday.

Advice: Lively gave up six hits, walked one and struck out five. He continues to pitch pretty well, but the Guardians only provided one run in support of his effort. Lively has a 3.03 ERA on the season. The 32-year-old right-hander is set to face the White Sox at home next week.

    • Snags seventh win
Neris (7-2) tossed a scoreless ninth inning with two strikeouts to earn the win in Thursday's 5-3, 10-inning victory over the Giants.

Advice: Neris went through a rough patch earlier this month but he's pitched better lately, tossing scoreless innings in consecutive outings with four total strikeouts. The veteran once again didn't see a save opportunity, as that went to Porter Hodge on Thursday, but it was encouraging to see Neris still work in a high-leverage spot. He figures to remain Chicago's closer moving forward, though he could be replaced if his struggles resurface. Rotowire.com Today, 7:23 pm
    • Tanner Scott collects 11th save on Thursday
Tanner Scott tossed a scoreless ninth inning on Thursday against the Phillies to notch his 11th save of the season.

Advice: Scott was summoned to protect a three-run lead against the division-rival Phillies and set down the side in order on just nine pitches (six strikes). The 29-year-old lefty has converted 11 of 13 save opportunities to accompany a 1.54 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 36/23 K/BB ratio across 35 innings (34 appearances). He hasn’t allowed a run in seven consecutive appearances since June 17. Rotoworld Today, 6:26 pm
    • Rangers release reliever Nabil Crismatt
      Rangers release Nabil Crismatt.

Advice: Crismatt made five relief appearances earlier this season for the Dodgers before heading over to the Rangers, where he didn’t end up getting a call back to the majors. The 29-year-old righty should be able to latch on somewhere as emergency organizational relief depth. He’s made 114 appearances in the big leagues since 2020. Rotoworld Today, 5:51 pm
    • JosĂ© Quijada (elbow) starts rehab assignment
José Quijada (elbow) started a minor league rehab assignment on Thursday.

Advice: Quijada is working his way back from last year’s Tommy John surgery and will need at least a few more rehab outings in the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League before facing some higher-level competition. Rotoworld Today, 5:33 pm

    • Shuster gets win with three in relief
Jared Shuster picked up the win while throwing three scoreless innings in relief in the first game of a doubleheader against Atlanta.

Advice: Shuster came in to work three innings of bulk relief after Chad Kuhl exited after three frames. The 25-year-old is the 27th player for the doubleheader against Atlanta — Shuster’s former organization — and he made a case for staying up while striking out two and allowing just one hit. Shuster has pitched well in his limited chances with the White Sox, but even if he did get called up into a full-time role, there’s a lot working against him as a potential fantasy option.
