    • AndrĂ©s Muñoz available in relief this weekend
AndrĂ©s Muñoz (back) is available for Saturday’s game against the Royals.

Advice: Muñoz has been dealing with a back strain that he tweaked during an on-field collision earlier this week and appears ready to return this weekend after getting through a couple bullpen sessions without any issues. Rotoworld Today, 11:56 am
    • Throws light bullpen Friday
Munoz (back) threw a light bullpen session before Friday's game against the Royals, per Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times, but the reliever did not appear in the contest.

Advice: Divish had noted there was a possibility Munoz would be available for the first time since exiting Tuesday's game against the Athletics, but it was Ryne Stanek who got the ninth-inning call and ultimately failed to protect a 9-7 lead. With Stanek having appeared in three of the last four games and having thrown 39 pitches in the last two nights, Munoz would certainly be in line for any high-leverage work Saturday if he's healthy enough to handle it. • Notches 13th save
Bednar earned the save in Friday's 3-0 win over the Twins, allowing one hit while logging a strikeout in a scoreless ninth inning.

Advice: Bednar worked around a Byron Buxton one-out single to close out Pittsburgh's shutout victory, earning his 13th save this season. Bednar extended his scoreless inning streak to nine -- he's allowed just five hits and one walk in that span. Overall, the 29-year-old right-hander sports a 5.47 ERA with a 1.18 WHIP and 26:6 K:BB across 26.1 innings this season. Rotowire.com Today, 8:34 am

    • Surrenders seven in no-decision
Miller did not factor into the decision in Friday's 10-9 loss to Kansas City, allowing seven runs on six hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out one.

Advice: Miller posted his worst start of the season, allowing nine baserunners and seven runs, each marking season worsts. The Seattle right-hander was cruising through three scoreless innings before allowing four runs in the fourth, rounded out by a three-run blast from MJ Melendez. The outing pushed Miller's WHIP up to 1.02 to go with a 3.81 ERA over 75.2 innings. The 25-year-old will look to bounce back in his next scheduled start against the White Sox at home. • Bryce Miller struggles over five in no-decision
Bryce Miller gave up seven runs in five innings but didn’t factor in the decision against the Royals on Friday.

Advice: Miller was handed an 8-0 lead, but he nearly gave it all back himself. The right-hander walked three while allowing eight hits — including a three-run homer to MJ Melendez — and he struck out just one in his worst start of the season. Miller has mostly looked the part, but this one sees his ERA jump up to 3.81. There are still things hear to figure out before he’s an elite fantasy option. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:08 pm
    • Bednar picks up 13th save Friday
David Bednar tossed a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Twins on Friday.

Advice: The save was Bednar’s 13th of the season. He blew three of his first four save opportunities this season, but since then he’s converted on 12 consecutive save chances. After a rough beginning to the season, he looks like one of the more reliable closers in the league. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:10 pm

    • AndrĂ©s Muñoz throws, could be available out of pen
AndrĂ©s Muñoz threw before Friday’s game and might be available to pitch against the Royals.

Advice: Muñoz has been unavailable since tweaking his already sore back on a collision at home plate during Tuesday’s game. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:53 pm
    • Could be available this weekend
Munoz (back) played catch prior to Thursday's game in Oakland, Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM reports.

Advice: Drayer adds that Munoz was seen giving fist bumps to others afterward, which would seem to indicate things went well. Munoz had to be removed from an appearance Thursday versus the Athletics, but there's optimism he can avoid the injured list and could be available to pitch this weekend in Kansas City, per Daniel Kramer of MLB.com. • AndrĂ©s Muñoz will likely avoid an IL stint
According to The Seattle Times’ Adam Jude, AndrĂ©s Muñoz (back) is “determined to pitch through his back strain” and will likely avoid an IL stint.

Advice: The Mariners’ closer has been pitching through the strain since the second game of the season, which may explain why he has had some “off nights” during the 2024 season. However, he has also pitched to a 1.73 ERA with 36 strikeouts in 26 innings, so it hasn’t been impacting him too much. “I’ve been here before,” said Munoz. “I’ve felt like this before, so I know we can manage that and be ready to go. ... I am 100% [with] this team.” Rotoworld Thursday, 10:17 am
