    • Starting as designated hitter
Santander (knee) is in the starting lineup as the designated hitter for Friday's matchup against the Mariners.

Advice: Santander hurt his knee in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Blue Jays after first colliding with the outfield wall and then hitting it again during a slide, which led to his exit from the game. The veteran outfielder will be eased back into the lineup at designated hitter while Ryan O'Hearn mans right field. Rotowire.com Today, 12:25 pm

    • Swats second homer
Martinez went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Wednesday's loss to the Phillies.

Advice: Martinez went deep in the eighth inning, launching a 403-foot solo shot off Spencer Turnbull. It was the veteran slugger's second long ball of the campaign, both of which have come over his past five games. Martinez is batting .350 (7-for-20) with four RBI over that stretch. • J.D. Martinez goes 2-for-4 with home run
J.D. Martinez stayed hot with his second homer and fourth extra-base hit in five games for the Mets on Wednesday in their loss to the Phillies.

Advice: Martinez has shrugged off a sluggish start to his season. He’s hitting .350 since last Saturday with his six hardest balls of the season coming in that span. The Mets’ offense is scuffling now, but Martinez should have plenty of run producing opportunities this season hitting behind Brandon Nimmo, Pete Alonso, and Francisco Lindor. • Exits game with bruised knee
Santander was removed from Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Blue Jays due to a bruised knee, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. He went 2-for-4 with a double.

Advice: Santander banged up his knee when he collided with the outfield wall and then aggravated it on a double and a slide in the eighth inning before being lifted in the ninth. The injury doesn't sound like a big concern, and it's possible the Orioles' scheduled off day Thursday will be enough rest for Santander. Consider him day-to-day heading into this weekend's series versus the Mariners. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 1:12 pm

    • Anthony Santander leaves game with bruised knee
Anthony Santander was pulled from Wednesday’s contest against the Blue Jays due to a bruised knee.

Advice: Santander initially suffered the injury when he crashed into the outfield wall in the third inning on Wednesday. He then aggravated if further while sliding into second base during the eighth inning. It doesn’t sound like it’s anything that should require a trip to the injured list, but there’s a chance that the 29-year-old slugger will be held out of the lineup an extra day or two to be on the safe side. • On bench against lefty
Suwinski is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers.

Advice: Lefty Robert Gasser is on the bump for Milwaukee, so the lefty-hitting Suwinski will retreat to the bench for the series finale. Edward Olivares will fill in for Suwinski in right field and will bat fifth. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 10:06 am

    • On bench Tuesday
Carpenter is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Marlins.

Advice: The left-handed Carpenter will avoid a matchup with southpaw Ryan Weathers on Tuesday, as Wenceel Perez, Matt Vierling and Mark Canha will start across the outfield. Carpenter has hit safely in five straight games, batting 7-for-18 (.389) with two homers and five runs scored. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 1:05 pm

    • Kyle Schwarber returns to lineup Tuesday vs. Mets
Kyle Schwarber (back) is hitting leadoff and and lined up as the designated hitter for Tuesday’s game against the Mets.

Advice: The hope was for Schwarber was that he would be able to return to the lineup Monday, but the Phillies held him out for one more day as a precaution; although he did appear as a pinch-hitter. He’ll look to do damage against Jose Butto and the Mets after missing time with his back ailment. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:31 am

    • Back in lineup, as expected
Schwarber (back) will start at designated hitter and bat leadoff in Tuesday's game against the Mets.

Advice: Schwarber missed three straight starts with back soreness, but he was able to pinch hit in Monday's contest and is back among the starting nine Tuesday. The 31-year-old is slashing .216/.319/.399 with nine home runs over 40 contests for the Phillies this season. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 7:28 am
