    • Steals home in loss
Chapman went 1-for-3 with two walks, one stolen base and two runs scored in Saturday's 5-4 loss to the Guardians.

Advice: Tyler Fitzgerald stole second, and that gave Chapman enough time to dart home for the Giants' third run. Chapman has done it all over his last 15 games, batting .327 (18-for-55) with four home runs, three steals, 12 RBI and 14 runs scored in that span. Coming into 2024, he had stolen a total of 11 bases in his career, but he's already up to eight this season while adding 12 homers, 42 RBI, 58 runs scored and a .244/.328/.422 slash line through 87 games. • Franciso Alvarez out Saturday with elbow soreness
Francisco Alvarez is not in the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Pirates due to left elbow soreness.

Advice: Alvarez took a 99-mph fastball from Pirates starter Paul Skenes off his left elbow during Friday’s showdown, so it makes sense that he’s going to get some extra time to rest and recover. It’ll be Luis Torrens handling the catching duties on Saturday afternoon in his place. The 22-year-old backstop is probably fine, but it’s something to keep an eye on over the rest of the weekend. • Absent from lineup Saturday
Alvarez (elbow) is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Pirates.

Advice: Alvarez went 1-for-3 in Friday's 14-2 loss to Pittsburgh, during which he was struck in the left elbow by a 99 mph fastball from Paul Skenes in the fourth inning, per Pat Ragazzo of SI.com. Luis Torrens will start behind home plate Saturday and bat sixth against Pirates southpaw Bailey Falter. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:03 am

    • Goes yard again
Riley went 1-for-3 with a walk, a two-run home run and a second run scored in Friday's loss to the Phillies.

Advice: Aaron Nola let a sinker catch too much of the plate in the fourth inning, and Riley drove it over the wall in center field for Atlanta's first runs of the night. The third baseman has an extra-base hit and at least one RBI in four straight games, and over his last 20 contests he's slashing .362/.438/.797 with six doubles, eight homers, 17 runs and 17 RBI. • Gleyber Torres out Saturday with groin injury
Gleyber Torres (groin) is absent from the lineup for Saturday’s contest against the Red Sox.

Advice: Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters Torres could be available off the bench on Saturday afternoon following an early exit from Friday’s game against the Red Sox due to right groin tightness after legging out a fourth-inning infield single. The 27-year-old infielder has been playing through a lingering minor groin issue for the last few weeks. It’ll be Oswaldo Cabrera at the keystone in his absence. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:15 am

    • Sitting Saturday
Torres (groin) isn't in the Yankees' lineup for Saturday's game against the Red Sox.

Advice: Torres made an early exit from Friday's game due to groin tightness. Although he won't start Saturday, the Yankees are hopeful that the 27-year-old will be available off the bench, per Bryan Hoch of MLB.com. Oswaldo Cabrera will get the nod at the keystone and bat eighth. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:11 am

    • Adbert Alzolay (forearm) throwing bullpen sessions
Adbert Alzolay (forearm) has progressed to throwing bullpen sessions.

Advice: Cubs pitching coach Tommy Hottovy told reporters Friday that Alzolay is progressing well and will ramp up to facing hitters at some point later this month. The 29-year-old righty has been out since mid-May due to a right forearm flexor strain. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:55 am

    • Struggles after rain delay
Houck came away with a no-decision in Friday's 5-3 extra-inning win over the Yankees, giving up three runs (one earned) on two hits and four walks over 3.1 innings. He struck out one.

Advice: The right-hander was looking sharp early, but a 38-minute rain delay in the middle of the third inning caused Houck to lose his focus, and he fell apart completely in the fourth. He's winless in his last four starts, stumbling to a 5.40 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 17:8 K:BB through 20 innings over that stretch, but he figures to bounce back in his next outing, which lines up to come at home next week against Oakland. • Tanner Houck pulled during sloppy fourth inning
Tanner Houck was charged with three runs — one earned — in 3 1/3 innings Friday versus the Yankees.

Advice: Houck lost his command after a brief rain delay interrupted his start tonight, but he still would have gotten through four scoreless if Enmanuel Valdez hadn’t botched a double play ball, resulting in no outs. At the same time, it wasn’t Valdez’s fault that Houck walked three in the inning. On the night, just 33 of his 68 pitches were strikes. It was a second straight rough outing, though at least this one didn’t take a toll on his ERA, which is still fifth in the AL at 2.68. Rotoworld Friday, 10:58 pm
