    • Perfect at plate in big win
Alvarez went 3-for-3 with a home run, a double, a walk, three total runs and three total RBI in a 12-2 victory versus the Yankees on Wednesday.

Advice: Alvarez touched up Yankees starter Luis Gil for a two-run homer in the third inning and added a run-scoring double in the fifth. The catcher also singled for his third three-hit performance during his current nine-game hitting streak. Alvarez has been scorching during that stretch, batting .516 (16-for-31) with three home runs, nine RBI and a 7:7 BB:K. His slash line is up to an impressive .313/.383/.521 on the campaign. • Seiya Suzuki slugs solo homer in loss to Giants
Seiya Suzuki went 1-for-4 with a solo homer against the Giants on Wednesday.

Advice: Suzuki’s only hit of the day left the yard, a game-tying homer in the fifth inning off of Hayden Birdsong. The 29-year-old outfielder is up to nine homers while slashing .263/.336/.446 with 29 runs scored, 29 RBI, and seven steals across 241 plate appearances. Rotoworld Today, 9:15 pm

    • Francisco Álvarez unstoppable in win
Francisco Álvarez went 3-for-3 with a home run, double, walk, three runs scored, and three RBI in the Mets’ 12-2 win over the Yankees.

Advice: It’s very easy to forget that Álvarez is only 22-years-old. It’s even easier to forget he just missed nearly two months with a torn ligament in his left thumb. Since returning, he’s slashing .414/.500/.732 with 3 homers, 11 RBI, seven walks, and eight strikeouts in 14 games. His offensive ceiling is absurd. Rotoworld Today, 8:50 pm
    • Takes seat after poor game Tuesday
Torres is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Mets.

Advice: For the second game in a row, Torres was held hitless Tuesday in the Yankees' 9-7 loss, leaving him in a 2-for-29 slump at the dish over his last nine games. To make matters worse, Torres committed an error at second base and also didn't run out a grounder at full speed in the eighth inning, with the latter play not escaping manager Aaron Boone's attention, per Bryan Hoch of MLB.com. Boone indicated that Torres is doing OK physically, but the skipper thought a day on the bench could be beneficial for the 27-year-old while he's in the midst of a rough patch. Oswaldo Cabrera will pick up the start at second base in place of Torres. Rotowire.com Today, 1:16 pm

    • Gleyber Torres (groin) absent from lineup
Gleyber Torres, who complained of groin tightness after Tuesday’s game, is out of Wednesday’s lineup.

Advice: Torres was criticized for missing a grounder and not hustling to first last night, though the groin seemed to explain the latter and Aaron Boone seemed more concerned about the former. Oswaldo Cabrera is playing second base tonight. Rotoworld Today, 1:01 pm

    • Held out against righty again
Cowser is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Guardians.

Advice: Cowser belted his 10th home run of the season in Tuesday's loss to the Guardians, but he nonetheless finds himself on the bench for the second time during the three-game series. Both of those absences came against right-handed pitchers, so the lefty-hitting Cowser could be in danger of losing out on a regular spot in the outfield to fellow lefty hitter Heston Kjerstad, who will make his second start of the series following his call-up from Triple-A Norfolk on Monday. • Colton Cowser sits against Guardians on Wednesday
Even though he homered Tuesday, Colton Cowser is on the bench in favor of Heston Kjerstad on Wednesday.

Advice: This hardly seems fair to Cowser. A left-handed hitter, he’s now been on the bench the last two times the Orioles have faced a righty and started both games against lefties, even though he has perfectly normal splits (.769 OPS versus righties, .679 OPS against lefties). If the Orioles keep using him like this, there’s a good chance they’ll eventually have a better excuse for sending him down. Rotoworld Today, 12:32 pm

    • Idle for series finale
Taveras is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game in Milwaukee.

Advice: Derek Hill was called up from Triple-A Round Rock prior to Wednesday's game and will be put to work right away, stepping in as the Rangers' starter in center field for the resting Taveras. After falling into an extended slump at the plate through the first half of June, Taveras seems to have righted the ship of late with six hits -- including a home run -- and two stolen bases in 21 at-bats over his last seven games. • Belts 10th homer in loss
Garver went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to the Rays on Tuesday.

Advice: Garver's night was a microcosm of the dichotomy of his first season with the Mariners -- he flashed his power stroke for the second straight night and left the yard for the fifth time in the last 16 games overall, but he also struck out in his other three plate appearances. The veteran offseason addition has impressively knocked 22 of his 39 hits for extra bases, yet the second-highest strikeout rate of his career (30.0 percent) and a .215 BABIP have conspired to generate an anemic .176 average across his first 68 games in Seattle.
