      Sewald walked one and struck out one in a scoreless and hitless inning to earn the save in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Padres.

      Advice: Sewald has three saves over four outings in June and is up to seven saves in as many chances this season. The closer has maintained excellent ratios as well with a 0.87 ERA, 0.48 WHIP and 11:2 K:BB over 10.1 innings.       Reynoldo Lopez allowed two runs in six innings and got a no-decision in the Braves’ 5-2 victory over the Nationals on Thursday.



      Advice: Lopez gave up six hits, walked one and struck out seven. CJ Abrams and Lane Thomas hit back-to-back home runs off him in the sixth inning. The home runs Lopez allowed were his third and fourth of the season (0.57 HR/9). Only Ranger Suarez and Luis Gil have a lower ERA than Lopez’ 1.85 (min. 50 innings), though his xFIP is significantly higher at 3.71. He has eight quality starts but he’s only won three of his 11 starts this year. The 30-year-old right-hander is set to face the Orioles on the road next week.

      Advice: Carroll was moved down to the eighth in the order the last two games, but that is an adjustment against left-handers only. There are indicators to explain his issues -- fewer barrels and an increase in pop-up rate jump out -- but he's retained good plate discipline and luck appears to be a factor. Per Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com, the Diamondbacks aren't targeting a specific number of games or at-bats for Perdomo; instead, his return date depends on how he feels. Arizona manager Torey Lovullo confirmed Perdomo won't be activated from the 10-day injured list during the upcoming four-game series against the Padres that begin Thursday, but a return next week could be in the cards.       Advice: Turner scored after doubling in the second inning, and he singled in his next at-bat for the 1,500th hit of his major-league career. The veteran has posted a modest .225/.307/.354 slash line through 202 plate appearances in his first campaign with Toronto, though he's maintained his usual solid contact skills with a 16.3 percent strikeout rate.       Gilbert (3-4) allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits and struck out five without walking a batter over seven innings, but he took the loss Wednesday versus the Athletics.

      Advice: Gilbert can be partly to blame for this loss, as his throwing error on a pickoff attempt put Daz Cameron in position to score on a passed ball in the fifth inning. The Mariners' lack of offense was the other problem, which led to Gilbert taking his fourth loss in his last six outings. He's turned in a quality start in four of those games despite the lack of wins. The right-hander is at a 3.12 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 76:20 K:BB through 83.2 innings over 13 starts this season.       Advice: Eflin was activated from the 15-day IL for Wednesday's start and was yanked after 55 pitches. He was expected to be under a pitch count after being stretched out to only 40 pitches during his recovery from a back injury. The 30-year-old had to shake off a little rust, allowing all three hits and both runs in the first inning before retiring nine straight batters to close out the start.
