  • Travis Jankowski plates two in win over Nationals
Travis Jankowski smacked a two-run single on Thursday, lifting the Rangers to a 6-0 victory over the Nationals.

Advice: Jankowski came off the bench and padded Texas’ late lead with a two-run single in the bottom of the eighth inning. The 32-year-old veteran outfielder has played sparingly this season due to the Rangers’ tremendous position player depth, but he remains an extremely valuable bench component for the defending World Series champions. • Jesús Sánchez knocks in game-winner in 10th
Jesús Sánchez went 1-for-4 with the hit being a game-winning single in the 10th against the Rockies on Thursday.

Advice: With the score tied 7-7, Sánchez went the opposite way to score Luis Arraez to give Miami the victory and their third-consecutive win. So far in 2024 Sánchez has driven in 13 runs over 33 games, and he’s slashing .237/.298/.316. Expect lots of ups and downs for the outfielder throughout the campaign. Rotoworld Today, 1:58 pm

  • Absent from lineup
Freeman is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest in Houston.

Advice: In a 1-for-14 stretch at the plate over his last four contests, Freeman will take a seat in the series finale. Gabriel Arias will occupy center field for the Guardians on Thursday. Rotowire.com Today, 1:25 pm

  • Makes impact as pinch runner
Ruiz entered Wednesday's win over the Pirates as a pinch runner in the bottom of the eighth inning, recording a stolen base and subsequently scoring a run.

Advice: The speedy outfielder offered a spark off the bench after being tasked with running for Abraham Toro, swiping second base and subsequently coming home on Kyle McCann's single. The steal was only Ruiz's fourth in 16 games this season, but his second in the last three contests. The 25-year-old has also shown a welcome increase in pop early in the campaign, as he sports an impressive .861 OPS thanks in large part to having laced five of his nine hits for extra bases. • Reds send TJ Friedl (wrist) on rehab assignment
Reds sent TJ Friedl (wrist) on a rehab assignment to Triple-A Louisville.

Advice: Two weeks ago, Reds manager David Bell said that Friedl could get a rehab assignment soon and the team are sticking to that timetable. Friedl fractured his right wrist during spring training, but there hasn’t been any setbacks in his recovery, so seeing him get some live reps is a positive sign. Friedl had his best season in 2023 where he had career-highs in almost every statistical category. Rotoworld Today, 8:45 am

  • Cleared for rehab assignment
Friedl (wrist) was sent to Triple-A Louisville on Thursday to begin a rehab assignment, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Advice: Friedl suffered a small fracture of the distal radius of his right wrist back in mid-March, but he's finally made enough progress in order to be cleared to play in games. Given how much time he's missed, Friedl will likely require a good number of rehab at-bats in the minors before returning from the 10-day injured list. The Reds' outfield situation is already crowded, but Friedl should play on a regular basis -- at least against right-handed pitching -- once he's activated. Rotowire.com Today, 8:44 am

  • Resumes running, hitting
Hays (calf) said that he's been able to engage in a running program the past few days and plans to hit Thursday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Manager Brandon Hyde implied Monday that Hays had made limited progress in his recovery from a left calf strain, but the outfielder struck a much more optimistic tone when he talked about where he stood in his rehab program Thursday. Hays admitted he's unsure whether he'll need a rehab assignment prior to being activated from the 10-day injured list, as the Orioles could just allow him to get some competitive at-bats in during simulated games. Regardless, Hays likely won't be in store for an everyday role whenever he's activated, as rookie Colton Cowser appears to have established himself as Baltimore's top option in left field.
