    • Tallies three hits in victory
Volpe went 3-for-5 with a triple and two runs against Minnesota in a 9-5 win Wednesday.

Advice: Volpe was responsible for one-third of the Yankees' nine hits in the victory, and he scored twice from atop the team's lineup. It was the fifth time this season the second-year shortstop has collected three or more hits in a game. Volpe had a 21-game hitting streak snapped May 30, but he's picked things right up since then, building a five-game hitting streak during which he's batted .364 (8-for-22). • José Soriano earns win over Padres on Wednesday
José Soriano allowed two runs -- one earned -- with one strikeout over six innings in a win over the Padres on Wednesday.

Advice: Soriano did a great job working around six hits and a walk despite only one strikeout. He was able to limit damage throughout his start by inducing 13 groundouts. The Padres wouldn’t bring a run in until the sixth inning. Two singles, a double, and an error would bring two runs in for San Diego. Soriano would end his day after six frames with the quality start. The 25-year-old right-hander will take a 3.64 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, and a 55/26 K/BB ratio across 64 1/3 innings into a start against the Diamondbacks in Arizona on Wednesday. Rotoworld Wednesday, 9:13 pm

    • Strikes out seven Wednesday
Fedde allowed three runs on six hits and struck out seven without issuing a walk over five innings in a no-decision versus the Cubs on Wednesday.

Advice: Fedde left the game in line for the win until the Cubs rallied ahead in the seventh inning. He had quality starts in four of his six outings in May, but he's given up seven runs over his last 10 innings across two starts. Fedde is at a 3.27 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 73:22 K:BB through 74.1 innings over 13 starts this season. The right-hander is projected to make his next start at Seattle. • Erick Fedde gives up three runs in no-decision
Erick Fedde allowed three runs with seven strikeouts across five innings in a no-decision against the Cubs on Wednesday.

Advice: Fedde gave up a run in the second inning on three hits and worked out of a bases loaded jam. He settled in for two scoreless frames before getting into more trouble in the fifth. Three base hits loaded the bases with one out. Cody Bellinger brought a run in on a groundout and a second run would come in on a balk before Fedde got out of the inning. He’d be done after five frames with seven strikeouts in line for the win, but the White Sox would unable to hold on to the lead. The 31-year-old right-hander will take a 3.27 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and a 73/22 K/BB ratio across 74 1/3 innings into a start against the Mariners in Seattle on Monday. Rotoworld Wednesday, 8:11 pm

    • Battling abdominal discomfort
Maeda left Wednesday's game against the Rangers due to right abdominal discomfort, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Advice: Maeda was grabbing his right side after throwing just two pitches during Wednesday's contest, and Detroit's trainers decided it was enough of an issue to warrant his removal. The Tigers still have not yet indicated how severe the 36-year-old's injury is, but they will continue to monitor his condition as he approaches his next start -- tentatively scheduled for next Wednesday against Washington. • Cleared to start Saturday
Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Wednesday that Suarez (thumb) has been cleared to start Saturday's game against the Mets in London, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. "I think so," Thomson said ,when asked if Suarez would make his next scheduled start. "It looks like it. I believe we can line him up."

Advice: Suarez didn't throw a bullpen session Wednesday like Thomson intimated would be the case Tuesday, but the southpaw played catch for the second day in a row and appears to be feeling fine. He'll throw a light bullpen session Friday, but the Phillies are seemingly already banking on Suarez being available without restriction for the first of two games in London, with Taijuan Walker set to take the hill for the Sunday contest. Suarez was removed from his most recent start this past Saturday against the Cardinals after taking a comebacker to his left thumb. He avoided any structural damage to the thumb and merely dealt with some light swelling, which has since subsided. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 6:47 pm
    • Anthony Volpe collects three hits in win Wednesday
Anthony Volpe went 3-for-5 with a triple and a pair of runs scored as the Yankees topped the Twins on Wednesday evening in New York.

Advice: Volpe led off the home half of the first inning with a single and came around to score the game’s first run on a ground ball off the bat of Aaron Judge. He also singled in the fifth inning and scored on Aaron Judge’s three-run triple. Volpe then smacked a three-bagger of his own in the eighth inning, but the Bombers couldn’t cash him in. He’s having an outstanding season atop the Yankees’ lineup — hitting .290/.355/.448 with six homers, 25 RBI and 11 stolen bases. Rotoworld Wednesday, 6:46 pm

    • Kenta Maeda leaves start with abdominal discomfort
Kenta Maeda was pulled from Wednesday’s start against the Rangers in the first inning due to abdominal discomfort on his right side.

Advice: The 36-year-old hurler lasted just two pitches before feeling a twinge in his side, which led to his removal from the ballgame. How he feels on Thursday will likely determine whether or not he’ll require a trip to the injured list or if there’s a chance that he’ll be able to make his next scheduled start. • Pulled early with injury
Maeda was removed from his start Wednesday against the Rangers due to an apparent injury, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Advice: After just his second pitch of the game, Maeda was grabbing at his right side. He threw a few warmup pitches in front of trainers, but the decision was eventually made to take the 36-year-old righty out of the game. The Tigers will take a closer look at him and should have more information on the nature of his injury within the near future. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 5:21 pm
