    • Takes loss in quality start
Canning (1-4) took the loss Sunday against Cleveland, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk across six innings. He struck out five.

Advice: Canning kept a clean sheet until the sixth inning when Jose Ramirez launched a two-run home run to cap off a 10-pitch at-bat. The long ball was the first Griffin has surrendered in over 20 innings, dating back to an April 13 start against Boston. Griffin completed six innings for the first time all year, notching a quality start and giving up five or fewer hits for a fourth straight outing. he's set up to face the Royals on Friday. • Secures extra-inning win
Yates (3-0) earned the win after he pitched two scoreless innings, allowing a walk while striking two batters in Sunday's 3-2 extra-inning win over the Royals.

Advice: Yates entered the game in the bottom of the eighth inning with the Rangers trailing 2-1 and he was able to work around a walk to keep it a one-run deficit going into the ninth. After Texas tied it up at 2-2, the right-hander returned for the following frame, setting the Royals down in order. The Rangers went on to win it in the 10th inning, earning Yates his third victory of the year. The 37-year-old has yet to allow an earned run this season while posting a 0.50 WHIP with five saves over 14 innings in 12 appearances. Rotowire.com 7 minutes ago
    • Bounces back with W
Carrasco (2-2) earned the win Sunday, allowing one run on six hits and two walks over six innings against the Angels. He struck out three.

Advice: Carrasco got back on track with his first quality start of 2024, rebounding from a pair of poor starts leading up to the outing where he combined for 13 earned runs over nine innings. If you erase Carrasco's two-start hiccup, he owns a 2.92 era over 24.2 innings with a 19:14 K:BB. He's lined up for a start against the White Sox on Saturday, who've won five of their last nine games and are averaging 4.9 runs per game in that stretch. Rotowire.com 18 minutes ago

    • Blasts first homer
Bouchard reached base three times Sunday, going 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk against the Pirates.

Advice: Bouchard followed teammate Jacob Stallings' two-run blast with a shot of his own during a second inning that saw the Rockies jump out to an early three-run lead. It was the first homer for Bouchard, who later added a double for his first multi-hit effort of the season. Bouchard got the starting nod against Pirates lefty Bailey Falter, marking his first start in four games as he appears to be mired on the short side of a platoon in right field with Jake Cave, pending the return of Kris Bryant (back), who's currently on the injured list. • Luis García Jr. goes 4-for-4, homers in victory
Before being lifted for a pinch-hitter, Luis García Jr. went 4-for-4 with a homer and a walk Sunday as the Nationals topped the Blue Jays 11-8.

Advice: Only Dave Martinez, man. It wasn’t even because there was a lefty in that García was pulled. Instead, Martinez brought in Ildemaro Vargas to lay down a bunt in Garcia’s place with a 10-8 lead in the eighth. Most annoying is that it worked out; not only did Vargas bunt the runner to third, but he reached first after the Jays tried and failed to retire the lead man, and the Nationals scored one run in the inning. It was García’s third career four-hit game. He’s actually one of the rare major leaguers to have had six hits in a game, doing so against the Royals last year. García is hitting .337/.381/.510 this season. Rotoworld 21 minutes ago

    • MacKenzie Gore gives up grand slam in poor outing
MacKenzie Gore lasted only three innings and allowed six runs — two earned — and six hits Sunday against the Blue Jays.

Advice: It was Gore’s own error that led to all of the unearned runs. Gore’s secondary pitches weren’t working today; he got just one missed swing on his 32 non-fastballs, and it was a changeup, after three straight fastballs, that Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit for a grand slam in the second. He’s 2-3 with a 3.44 ERA after seven turns. Rotoworld 22 minutes ago

    • Alek Manoah tagged for seven runs in 2024 debut
Making his 2024 debut, Alek Manoah gave up seven runs — six earned — in four innings Sunday against the Nationals.

Advice: Manoah issued a bases-loaded walk in the first, but that run was unearned because of an error to start the inning. He later gave up a homer in the third and five runs after recording the second out of the fourth. The good news is that Manoah had really strong velocity today — his 94.3 mph average on his fastball was up 1.5 mph from last year and also little better than his 2022 average — and he was able to strike out six batters. There might still be some hope here for the future, but we wouldn’t want to be rostering him right now. Rotoworld 22 minutes ago

    • Lifts second homer
Stallings went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Sunday against the Pirates.

Advice: Stallings put the Rockies on the board with the second inning blast against his former club. Despite serving as the second catcher in Colorado, Stallings has been effective on offense when given the opportunity with a hitting streak that's spanned the last seven games he's played since April 17. He's hit .400 over that stretch with two homers, six RBI and four runs scored, lifting his season average to .351 in the process. Rotowire.com 32 minutes ago
    • Quality start versus Royals
Gray pitched seven innings, surrendering two runs on seven hits while striking out seven batters in Sunday's 3-2 extra-inning win over the Royals. He did not factor into the decision.

Advice: Gray was tagged early Sunday, giving up a run in the first inning and then another in the bottom of the third frame on an RBI double by Vinnie Pasquantino. He finished his outing with four scoreless frames, securing his second straight quality start. Gray now owns a 2.50 ERA and 1.16 WHIP with 42 strikeouts over 39.2 innings in eight starts this season and he's tentatively set to return to the mound Saturday against the Rockies for a road matchup with his former team.
