    • Max Fried stymies Nationals’ bats in win
      Max Fried threw eight shutout innings, allowing seven hits and striking out six in a win over the Nationals.

      Advice: Fried has now allowed just one earned run over 17 innings in his last two starts. However, while he carved up the Cubs in his last time out, Fried managed without his best stuff on Tuesday. He had just nine whiffs on 45 swings for a 20 percent whiff rate and 24 percent CSW on the day; however, the Nationals were only able to muster one extra-base hit and couldn’t capitalize on their seven hits. Aces are able to produce even when they’re not executing as well as they can, and that’s exactly what Fried did tonight. He’ll now take a 2.97 ERA into a start against the A’s on Sunday.     • Jordan Westburg has two hits, two RBI in loss
      Jordan Westburg went 2-for-3 with two singles and two RBI in a loss to the Red Sox.

      Advice: Westburg drove both runs in on a 103.7 mph single in the first inning. He now has 34 RBI to go along with a .291/.351/.508 slash line. While the 25-year-old has cooled down a bit from his torrid start to the season and is pulling the ball far less than he was in April, he continues to produce, hitting .278 with three home runs in 24 games in May.     • Brayan Bello strikes out seven in win over Orioles
      Brayan Bello allowed three runs on five hits in five innings in a win over the Orioles on Tuesday.

      Advice: The right-hander struck out seven and walked two on the evening. Bello had a rough first inning, allowing all three runs on three hits, but he bounced back exceptionally well and had his entire arsenal working, registering a 38 percent whiff rate and 37 percent CSW. Bello’s changeup was particularly effective on Tuesday, getting 10 whiffs on 21 swings, but he also had a 38 percent whiff rate on his slider which will be a big pitch for him if he wants to take the next step in his development.       Bello (6-2) earned the win Tuesday over the Orioles, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out seven.

      Advice: Baltimore got to Bello early Tuesday by scoring three runs in the opening frame, before the right-hander settled in and blanked the Orioles over his subsequent four innings while allowing just one additional hit. It's the fifth win for Bello in his last six starts. His ERA sits at 4.18 through nine outings (47.1 innings) this year with a 1.18 WHIP and 44:15 K:BB.       X-rays on Pasquantino's lower left leg came back negative after he collided with Byron Buxton during Tuesday's game against the Twins.

      Advice: Pasquantino had to come out of the game after taking a knee to the shin in the third inning, but he appears to have escaped the incident with no more than a bruise.       Advice: Pasquantino came up limping after a collision with Byron Buxton, who was attempting to leg out an infield single during the third inning.
