According to MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand, the Guardians have signed LHP Matthew Boyd to a major league deal, pending a physical.
Advice: The Boyd Boys are back in business. The left-hander held a showcase with 17 teams on June 8th when he was a little over 11 months removed from Tommy John surgery. He was reportedly sitting 92-93 with his fastball, which was enough to win over the Guardians. The 33-year-old was 5-5 with a 5.45 ERA in 15 starts for the Tigers last season before undergoing surgery, and will almost certainly require a handful of rehab starts before he threatens to take the job of anybody in the Guardians’ rotation.
