    • Stuck with loss in return
Montas (2-3) took the loss Tuesday against the Diamondbacks, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits and one walk over six innings. He struck out seven.

Advice: Montas wound up spending the minimum 15 days on the IL after he was struck by a line drive in his last start, resulting in a bruised forearm. The 31-year-old right-hander was sharp in his return, though he'd ultimately wind up with the loss as the Reds' offense couldn't break through against Zac Gallen. Montas now sports a 3.55 ERA with a 1.30 WHIP and 21:11 K:BB across his first six starts (25.1 innings) with Cincinnati. He's currently lined up for a road matchup with the Giants on Sunday in his next outing. Rotowire.com 5 minutes ago

    • Homer, five RBI in victory
Carroll went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer and five total RBI in Tuesday's 6-2 win over the Reds.

Advice: Carroll looked back at home in the leadoff spot Tuesday -- after driving in two runs earlier in the game, the 23-year-old outfielder broke the game open with a three-run homer off the left-handed Justin Wilson in the seventh, his second long ball of the year and first since April 9, extending Arizona's lead to 5-0. After a brutal start to the season, it looks like Carroll may be starting to turn things around at the plate -- he now has at least one hit in six of his last seven contests, going 8-for-27 in that span. He's still slashing an uninspiring .211/.300/.278 through 34 games with 15 runs scored, 12 RBI and eight stolen bases. Rotowire.com 14 minutes ago
    • Returning to majors
Pages will be recalled from Triple-A Memphis on Wednesday, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Advice: With Willson Contreras (forearm) set to miss the next couple of months, Pages will come up from the minors to serve as the backup catcher to Ivan Herrera. Pages has played in just six games at Triple-A this season, going 4-for-18 with a homer and two RBI, and he'll likely only draw an occasional start while with the Cardinals. • Excellent against Cincinnati
Gallen (4-2) earned the win Tuesday over the Reds, allowing one hit and three walks over six scoreless innings. He struck out six.

Advice: Gallen had gone 11 days between starts after suffering a hamstring injury on April 26 against Seattle. He certainly looked healthy Tuesday, holding Cincinnati to one hit en route to his third scoreless outing this season. It's an encouraging effort from Gallen, who'd dropped his previous two starts, allowing eight runs over 10 innings in that span. He lowered his ERA to 2.84 with a 1.13 WHIP and 41:12 K:BB across seven starts (38 innings) this year. Gallen's currently in line for a road start Sunday against the Orioles in his next outing. • Kyle Harrison combines on shutout of Rockies
Kyle Harrison pitched four-hit ball for seven innings and combined with two relievers on a 5-0 shutout of the Rockies on Tuesday.

Advice: Ryan Walker and Camilo Doval, who hadn’t pitched in five days, finished up the Giants’ shutout. Harrison struck out just two tonight and gave up a pair of 390-foot flies to Ezequiel Tovar and Jordan Beck, but he was never stressed. The win moves him to 3-1 with a 3.20 ERA. He’ll work at home against the Reds on Sunday. Rotoworld 24 minutes ago

    • Dakota Hudson gives up four runs in loss to Giants
Dakota Hudson surrendered four runs in 3 2/3 innings Tuesday in a loss to the Giants.

Advice: Hudson is going to have to be a little better than this in order to get a chance to make a run at 20 losses this year. He’s currently 0-6 with a 6.35 ERA and an ugly 20/22 K/BB ratio in 34 innings. Rotoworld 24 minutes ago

    • LaMonte Wade Jr. gets on base four times in win
LaMonte Wade Jr. reached base four times Tuesday, finishing 1-for-2 with two RBI and three walks versus the Rockies.

Advice: The underrated Wade is batting .351 with a ridiculous .485 OBP, yet as a platoon player with one homer, 10 RBI, 12 runs scored and one steal, he still hasn’t been all that valuable for fantasy purposes, and it’s not like he’ll keep hitting .351 forever. At least he should remain plenty useful to the Giants all year. Rotoworld 24 minutes ago

    • Set for surgery
Contreras said Tuesday that he will undergo surgery on his fractured left forearm within the next several days and will miss 6-to-8 weeks, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Advice: After getting hit in the forearm by a swing during the second inning of Tuesday's game, Contreras will officially be sidelined for up to two months -- a huge blow to a Cardinals offense that already ranks near the bottom of the NL in OPS (.636) and runs (126). Ivan Herrera is now the favorite to receive the bulk of starts behind the plate while Contreras is out, and it's likely the Cardinals promote Pedro Pages from Triple-A Memphis to be the new backup. • Rough night in no-decision
Allen did not factor into the decision Tuesday against the Tigers, allowing seven runs on seven hits and two walks over 2.1 innings. He struck out two.

Advice: It was a brutal night for Allen, with four of Detroit's runs coming on a pair of Andy Ibanez home runs in the first two innings. However, he was spared a third straight loss, as Cleveland answered the Tigers' four-run second inning with five runs in the bottom of the frame. It's been a tough start to Allen's sophomore campaign -- he's 3-2 with a 6.41 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 33:13 K:BB through 39.1 innings. He's already given up nine home runs after surrendering 16 in 24 starts last season. Allen will look to turn things around in his next outing, currently lined up for Sunday versus the White Sox.
