      Hunter Greene blanked the Tigers for seven innings but didn’t qualify for a decision Saturday.

      Advice: Greene was outstanding. His bullpen was not. The right-hander left with a 2-0 lead but the Tigers pounced on the Cincinnati reliers to prevent him from picking up his deserved win. It was one of the most efficient outings for the 24-year-old that saw him throw 63-of-104 pitches for strikes while allowing just three hits.       Steven Kwan went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a solo home run against the Giants on Saturday.

      Advice: Kwan’s home run was his ninth of the season. He hit a single in the first inning against Kyle Harrison and came around to score on an RBI groundout by Josh Naylor.       Hunter Brown allowed seven runs with five strikeouts over six innings in a loss to the Twins on Saturday.

      Advice: Brown had quite the forgettable day on the mound as he surrendered seven runs to the Twins. The seven runs matched the total runs he’s allowed over his last eight starts combined. Three hits, a hit batter, and a sacrifice fly brought two runs in to score in the first. Minnesota brought three more runs in on four hits and a walk in the second.       Cardinals manager Oli Marmol said Saturday that he has a postgame call with Nootbaar (oblique) to determine whether the 26-year-old is ready to return from his rehab assignment with Triple-A Springfield, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

      Advice: Katie Woo of The Athletic reported Friday that Nootbaar was expected to remain in Springfield over the weekend to work on timing. In his last rehab outing Friday, Nootbaar went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, and if he and Marmol agree that more reps in the minors aren't needed, a return to the Cardinals could happen as early as Sunday in Washington DC.
