    • Collects first hit in debut
Wood went 1-for-4 with a walk in Monday's 9-7 loss to the Mets.

Advice: The 21-year-old recorded a hit in his first major-league plate appearance, knocking a single to left off David Peterson. Wood later worked a five-pitch walk in the 10th inning. After slashing .353/.463/.595 in 231 plate appearances at Triple-A, the Washington outfielder appears set to play every day in left field for the Nationals. Wood has all the tools to be a fantasy star, as he reached double-digits in both homers and steals -- 10 apiece -- with 37 RBI and 44 runs scored in 52 games with Rochester before his call-up. • James Wood singles, walks in MLB debut
James Wood singled and walked in five plate appearances in his major league debut Monday against the Mets.

Advice: The single came in his first big-league bat, as he managed to power a two-strike fastball through the left side of the infield (it helped a great deal that, because the Mets were shifted, it was Mark Vientos trying to field the grounder, rather than Francisco Lindor). Three of Wood’s four balls in play tonight were hit hard; in addition to the 107-mph single, he had a 96-mph lineout and a 95-mph groundout. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:32 pm

    • Josh Hader records 13th save after allowing homer
Josh Hader picked up his 13th save despite giving up a homer in the ninth Monday against the Blue Jays.

Advice: Ernie Clement took him deep. That’s two homers allowed by Hader in his last three games and six on the season. Still, his ERA has fallen steadily these last couple of months; he has a 2.40 ERA and a 49/7 K/BB ratio in 30 innings since Apr. 17. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:15 pm
    • Bags 13th save
Hader picked up the save in Monday's 3-1 win over the Blue Jays, pitching one inning with one strikeout and allowing a solo home run.

Advice: The Houston southpaw entered the ninth with a three-run lead and fired 13 pitches to lock up his 178th career save. However, Hader also allowed his sixth homer of the year -- a 404-foot solo shot to Ernie Clement -- raising his 2024 home-run rate to 1.4 HR/9. The 30-year-old closer sports a 3.82 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 60:11 K:BB over 37.2 total innings while going 13-for-14 in save chances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:05 pm
    • Batting sixth in major-league debut
Wood will start in left field and bat sixth in Monday's contest versus the Mets.

Advice: The left-handed-hitting Wood will go up against southpaw David Peterson in his major-league debut. Left-handers didn't bother the 21-year-old at all this season at Triple-A Rochester. In fact, he performed a bit better versus them (1.089 OPS) than against righties (1.047 OPS). Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:37 pm

    • James Wood officially called up by Nats
Nationals recalled OF James Wood from Triple-A Rochester.

Advice: The move was announced on Friday but is now official. Wood is MLB Pipeline’s 3rd-ranked prospect, behind Jackson Holliday and Junior Caminero, who have both already had a taste of the big leagues. Wood posted a .353/.463/.595 slash line with 10 homers and 10 steals across 52 games this season at Triple-A. Of course, he’s also 21 years old and we saw Holliday struggle against MLB pitching in his first crack at the big leagues, so it’s not a given that Wood will hit the ground running. He will also face three left-handed starters in his first three games which will give fantasy managers and Nationals fans a good chance to see if there will be any platoon issues early on. The Nationals designated Eddie Rosario for assignment in a corresponding move. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:36 am

    • Added to roster ahead of MLB debut
The Nationals selected Wood's contract from Triple-A Rochester on Monday.

Advice: The top prospect will make his major-league debut Monday against the Mets. Wood earned a promotion after sporting a blistering .353/.463/.595 batting line with 10 home runs, 10 stolen bases and a 42:40 K:BB over 52 games with Rochester. While Wood has experience at all three outfield positions, the Nationals plan to deploy him mainly in left field for the time being. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:18 am

    • Stays hot Sunday
Pasquantino went 3-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored in Sunday's 6-2 win over the Guardians.

Advice: Pasquantino has gone 11-for-27 (.407) with nine RBI across his last seven games, ending June on a high note. The first baseman's recent surge has him up to a .247/.321/.436 slash line for the year, nearly identical to his marks over 61 contests in 2023. He's added 10 home runs, 55 RBI, 39 runs scored, 21 doubles and two triples through 82 games this year, playing on a near-everyday basis between first base and designated hitter. • Reaches 30-save milestone
Helsley struck out two batters in a perfect ninth inning to earn the save over Cincinnati on Sunday.

Advice: Helsley efficiently rolled through the Reds' 2-3-4 hitters with just 10 pitches. He extended his MLB save lead and became the first pitcher in the 2024 season to reach 30 saves. He's converted those 30 saves consecutively after blowing his first opportunity of the year March 30. Helsley is sporting a 2.61 ERA with a 46:16 K:BB through 38 innings. Rotowire.com Sunday, 8:20 pm
