    • Taking seat versus lefty
Burleson is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Marlins.

Advice: After starting in each of the Cardinals' last 29 games, Burleson will finally get a break in the series opener in Miami. With southpaw Braxton Garrett on the bump for Miami, Cardinals skipper Oliver Marmol likely viewed it as an opportune time to give the lefty-hitting Burleson a day off. Dylan Carlson will step in for Burleson in right field. Rotowire.com 37 minutes ago

    • Homers in loss
Judge went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 9-3 loss to the Red Sox.

Advice: Judge had a bit of a quiet week, going a modest 6-for-25 (.240) with two homers and five RBI over six contests against the Royals and Red Sox. He also struck out nine times, including thrice in Sunday's game. It's likely just the natural ebb and flow of offense in a long season, as the outfielder is still leading the majors with 26 long balls while adding 64 RBI, 56 runs scored, five stolen bases and a .299/.425/.686 slash line over 73 contests. • Aaron Judge crushes homer as Yanks fall at Fenway
Aaron Judge clobbered his 26th home run of the season on Sunday night, but it wasn’t enough to power the Yankees to a victory over the Red Sox at Fenway Park.

Advice: Judge opened the scoring in the contest with a titanic 380-foot (114.2 mph EV) solo shot over the Green Monster off of Kutter Crawford in the top half of the first inning. That lead would be short-lived though, and Judge would go down on strikes in each of his remaining three at-bats in the contest. With his 1-for-4 effort the 32-year-old slugger is now slashing .299/.425/.686 with 26 homers and 64 RBI on the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:19 pm

    • Garners no run support
Taillon (3-3) suffered the loss Sunday, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks over six innings against the Cardinals. He struck out three.

Advice: Taillon scattered baserunners throughout, completing only a single 1-2-3 inning, but was able to limit the damage with the only runs coming on a second-inning two-run homer by Pedro Pages. However, Taillon was given no run support and left the game after six still facing that same two-run deficit. It was the second consecutive quality start for Taillon, who has allowed just two runs in 12 innings over those two starts after having allowed 14 runs over 21.1 innings in his previous four. He'll look to keep things rolling the next time he toes the rubber, which is likely to be next weekend when the Mets roll into the friendly confines of Wrigley Field. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:53 pm
    • Looks set for 2024 debut this week
Rangers manager Bruce Bochy confirmed Sunday that Scherzer (back/thumb) will return from the 60-day injured list during the upcoming week as long as he experiences no issues bouncing back from his rehab start with Triple-A Round Rock this past Saturday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: The Rangers will likely officially sign off on Scherzer making his 2024 debut once he throws a bullpen session in front of the coaching and training staffs early in the week, but all signs point to the right-hander being ready to slot back into the rotation with a limited workload restriction, if he has one at all. In his latest rehab outing with Round Rock on Saturday, Scherzer struck out eight while throwing 79 pitches over 4.2 innings and allowing three earned runs on four hits and two walks. Since he had been pitching on five days' rest during his time with Round Rock, Scherzer appears likely to start for the Rangers either Friday or Saturday versus the Royals. • On bench for nightcap
Jeffers is not in the starting lineup for Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader with the Athletics.

Advice: Jeffers will get a breather after he went 1-for-4 in the team's 6-2 win over Oakland in Game 1. Christian Vazquez will take over behind the plate and bat eighth in the nightcap. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:56 pm

    • Max Scherzer expected to join Rangers’ rotation
Rangers manager Bruce Bochy told reporters on Sunday that as long as Max Scherzer bounces back alright following his minor league rehab start on Saturday, he’ll join the Rangers’ rotation and make his 2024 regular season debut during the upcoming week.

Advice: Scherzer threw 79 pitches (55 strikes) over 4 2/3 innings in his final minor league tune-up at Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday — giving up three runs on four hits and a pair of walks while punching out eight batters. He should slot into the Rangers’ rotation at some point during their weekend series against the Royals. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:49 pm

    • Luis Arraez with two more hits Sunday
Luis Arraez went 2-for-5 with a double on Sunday against the Mets.

Advice: Arraez was on point in this one. All five of his balls in play were hit at least 95 MPH and he continues to be an engine atop the Padres’ order. His batting average is up to .326 which is best in the National League among qualified players. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:14 pm

    • Getting rest Sunday
Gurriel is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.

Advice: Gurriel will receive a routine day off after he had started in each of Arizona's last seven games. Jake McCarthy will shift over from his usual spot in right field to cover left field in Gurriel's stead. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:20 pm
