    • Reaches four times, homers
Betts went 2-for-4 with two walks, a three-run home run and an additional run scored during Thursday's 11-7 win over the Pirates.

Advice: Betts' three-run blast capped off a six-run fifth inning for the Dodgers and plated Miguel Vargas and Austin Barnes. Prior to Thursday's outburst, Betts had gone 1-for-24 (.042) across six games. Despite the minor cold spell, he owns the ninth-best OPS in MLB at .923 with 10 homers and nine stolen bases. • Goes yard in Thursday's win
Garver went 2-for-2 with a home run, two walks, two RBI and two runs scored in a win over the Athletics on Thursday.

Advice: Garver was a one-man wrecking crew for Seattle, delivering an RBI single in the fourth inning before putting an exclamation point on the M's shutout victory with a ninth-inning solo blast. While Thursday's performance marked the veteran catcher's second two-hit effort and second multi-RBI performance in the last four games, Garver's first two months-plus in Seattle have been highly disappointing -- he's sitting on a .175 batting average and .612 OPS through his first 200 plate appearances, and his 30.5 percent strikeout rate is his highest since he whiffed at a 45.7 percent clip during the COVID-shortened 2020 season. • Doubles home go-ahead run
Friedl went 1-for-4 with a walk, a double, an RBI and a run scored in Thursday's 8-4 win over the Cubs.

Advice: In a back-and-forth affair, Friedl produced the go-ahead run in the sixth inning with a two-out double off lefty reliever Luke Little. The double extended Friedl's hit streak to five games, during which he's 6-for-19 with three extra-base hits, seven RBI and six runs scored. Rotowire.com Today, 4:33 am
    • Nabs 16th save
Iglesias pitched a perfect inning to earn a save against the Nationals on Thursday.

Advice: Iglesias made quick work of Washington in the ninth inning, needing just nine pitches to set the side down in order. The veteran closer has converted each of his past eight save chances, allowing three runs over 10 frames during that span. Iglesias hasn't been punching out batters at his usual rate this season -- he has just 16 strikeouts through 23.1 innings -- but he nonetheless is tied for fifth in the majors with 16 saves (in 18 chances). • Mookie Betts homers to lead Dodgers past Pirates
Mookie Betts went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer on Thursday, powering the Dodgers to an 11-7 victory over the Pirates.

Advice: Betts capped off Los Angeles’ six-run explosion in the fifth inning with his 10th round-tripper of the season, taking Pirates reliever Ben Heller deep to center field. It was his second big fly in his last four games and first multi-hit effort since May 28. He also walked twice in this one. The 31-year-old fantasy superstar is batting .312/.411/.512 with 46 runs scored, 10 homers, 35 RBI and nine stolen bases through 292 plate appearances over 63 games. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:54 pm

    • Railes Iglesias gets 16th save Thursday
Raisel Iglesias tossed a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Nationals on Thursday.

Advice: The save was Iglesias’ 16th of the season, but his lack of strikeouts this season is evident. He has struck out seven in his last 12 innings. Iglesias’ 17 percent strikeout percentage on the season is by far the lowest of his career and could catch up with him eventually. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:02 pm
    • Mitch Garver socks solo homer in win over A’s
Mitch Garver drove in two runs and hit a solo homer in a victory over the Athletics on Thursday.

Advice: Garver also drew two walks. He blooped in a single to score Cal Raleigh in the fourth, and his homer was off a center-cut fastball from T.J. McFarland that extended Seattle’s lead to 3-0. Garver has six homers on the season and has been a significant disappointment with a slash of .175/.285/.327 over the first 60-plus games of 2024. • Sean Murphy back in lineup Thursday vs. Nationals
Sean Murphy (elbow) is back in the lineup for Thursday’s series opener against the Nationals.

Advice: It’s an extremely encouraging sign to see Murphy back handling the catching duties following a brief one-game absence after being hit by a pitch on the right elbow during the late stages of Tuesday’s game against the Red Sox. The 29-year-old backstop has been snake-bitten by injuries this season, but managed to escape his most incident with nothing more than a nasty looking bruise. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:44 pm

    • Returns to Atlanta lineup
Murphy (elbow) will start at catcher and bat sixth in Thursday's game versus the Nationals.

Advice: Murphy had to depart Tuesday's game against the Red Sox after being struck on the right elbow by a pitch and was then held out of action Wednesday. It will be just a one-game absence for Atlanta's top catcher, though, as he and his teammates take on Mitchell Parker and the Nationals on Thursday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:37 pm
