      Advice: Finnegan was summoned to protect a 5-4 lead in the ninth inning but surrendered a solo home run to Willson Contreras. The closer had thrown five straight scoreless appearances but left a 2-2 fastball down the middle for his fourth blown save of the season.       Kenley Jansen kept the Yankees off the board in the 10th inning to secure the save on Friday night.

      Advice: Jansen was tasked with facing Juan Soto and Aaron Judge up two runs in the 10th inning and didn’t allow anyone to score. He slammed the door in what was a dramatic win for his Red Sox.       Doval allowed a hit and a walk in a scoreless inning Friday, striking out one and earning a save over Cleveland.

      Advice: Doval put the first two batters of the inning on base but escaped the jam to close out the 4-2 win. It was his third straight save conversion and he's now 17 for 20 in opportunities this season.     • Jason Foley miraculously escapes with save Friday
      Jason Foley surrendered a pair of runs in the ninth inning on Friday night, but managed to miraculously escape with a one-run lead intact against the Reds to earn his 14th save of the season.

      Advice: Foley came on with a three-run lead to protect in the ninth inning, but immediately made things interesting by allowing an infield single to Elly De La Cruz — who then stole second and took third on a balk. Spencer Steer smacked a one-out RBI single to make it a bit closer and Nick Martini followed with an RBI triple that put the tying run at third base with only one out. Tyler Stephenson then hit a ground ball to third, where Blake Dunn was cut down at the plate attempting to score. Foley then allowed a single to Noelvi Marte before finally getting Santiago Espinal to ground out to first to end it. Foley now sports a 3.26 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and a 24/9 K/BB ratio over 30 1/3 innings on the season to go with 14 saves and a pair of victories. Rotoworld Today, 7:46 pm

      Kyle Finnegan allowed one earned run on two hits in the ninth inning on Friday against the Cardinals.

      Advice: Willson Contreras took Finnegan deep to tie this game in the ninth inning. He’s been remarkably consistent throughout the season, but the Nationals haven’t provided him with many save opportunities lately and he’s now blown two of his last four dating back to June 22nd.       Justin Steele went the distance for his first win of 2024, pitching a two-hitting in a 5-1 game against the Angels.

      Advice: The Cubs didn’t need to turn to their shaky pen this time out, as Steele finished off the Angels in just 95 pitches. He struck out seven and walked two for his first win in 13 starts this season and 18 outings dating back to last year, when he opened up 16-3 before going 0-2 in his final four turns and perhaps costing himself a Cy Young Award.       Ian Happ had two more hits and two more RBI against the Angels in Friday’s win.

      Advice: Just like last night, it was again Happ and Seiya Suzuki, who hit a two-run homer, doing the heavy lifting for the Cubs offense. They both have .806 OPSs at the moment and, given the state of the NL outfield poor, legitimate cases for All-Star nods.     • Throws complete game for first win
      Steele (1-3) earned the win against the Angels on Friday, allowing one run on two hits and two walks with seven strikeouts over nine innings.

      Advice: Steele needed just 95 pitches to toss his first career complete game. The only blemish was an RBI single by Taylor Ward in the fifth, but the lefty responded by retiring 13 consecutive batters to seal his much overdue first win of the year. The 29-year-old has logged six straight quality starts and owns a 2.95 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 77:18 K:BB over 79.1 innings this season. He lines up for a road matchup with the Orioles next week.
