      Ferguson earned a hold against the White Sox on Friday, striking out one batter in two-thirds of an inning.

      Advice: Fellow reliever Ian Hamilton began the eighth frame for the Yankees but got himself into hot water, allowing three hits to the four batters he faced to yield a run and put the tying runs in scoring position. Ferguson was called upon to put out the fire and did just that, striking out Andrew Benintendi and getting Corey Julks to line out to keep New York's advantage at two runs. Though his ERA still sits at an unappealing 5.74 on the campaign, Ferguson has been one of the Yankees' highest-leverage relievers of late, nailing down four holds over his past 10 appearances.       Bassitt (3-6) took the loss Friday, giving up three runs on five hits and three walks over 5.2 innings as the Blue Jays were downed 4-3 by the Rays. He struck out five.

      Advice: The veteran right-hander blanked Tampa Bay for five innings, but the wheels came off in the sixth as an Isaac Paredes walk was sandwiched between a Randy Arozarena double and a Richie Palacios homer. Bassitt left the game after 103 pitches (65 strikes), falling short of his third straight quality start. While he's been pitching a little better in May, he'll take a 5.03 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 45:23 K:BB through 48.1 innings on the season into his next outing, which lines up to come at home next week against the White Sox.       Cortes (2-4) picked up the win in Friday's 4-2 victory over the White Sox, allowing one unearned run on five hits and a walk over seven innings. He struck out six.

      Advice: An error by Oswaldo Cabrera in the third inning led to the only damage off Cortes, who tossed 63 of 93 pitches for strikes in his fifth quality start of the season. The southpaw has been effective when he's been able to keep the ball in the park; he's served up multiple homers in three of his last seven outings, stumbling to a 6.06 ERA in those starts but not giving up an earned run in the other four. Cortes will take an overall 3.56 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 57:12 K:BB through 60.2 innings into his next trip to the mound, which is scheduled to come at home next week against the Mariners.       Chris Bassitt pitched 5 ⅔ innings and allowed three earned runs on Friday in a loss to the Rays. He struck out five and walked three.

      Advice: Bassitt just can’t seem to get on track this season. He unraveled in the sixth inning, the third time through the Rays’ order, with Richie Palacios’ two-run homer chasing him.       Nestor Cortes worked seven innings without allowing an earned run in the Yankees 4-2 win over the White Sox on Friday. He struck out six, walked one, allowed five hits, and earned the win.

      Advice: This was the fourth time this season that Cortes has completed at least seven innings. He’s been a reliable, steadying force in the Yankees’ rotation and looks to have bounced back fully after a poor 2023. Rotoworld Friday, 7:11 pm

      Schmidt (5-1) earned the win Thursday against Minnesota, allowing three hits and no walks across eight scoreless innings. He struck out eight.

      Advice: Schmidt hasn't allowed a run in 15.2 consecutive innings dating back to his May 4 start against Detroit. The 28-year-old was utterly dominant Thursday, setting a season high in punchouts while tying his season low in hits allowed. Schmidt is well on his way to a career year -- he owns a 2.49 ERA in 50.2 innings -- as a back-end starter in one of baseball's best rotations.       Clarke Schmidt matched a career-high with eight strikeouts over eight scoreless innings on Thursday in a win over the Twins.

      Advice: Schmidt authored the strongest start of his career during Thursday afternoon’s matinee at Target Field, completing seven innings for the first time in his career, while also scattering three hits and needing just 103 pitches (69 strikes) to navigate eight nearly-flawless frames. He generated 16 swinging strikes, including 10 on his cutter alone, finishing with a robust 34 percent CSW. The 28-year-old righty has been a revelation this season for fantasy managers as a late-round steal in deeper mixed leagues. He’ll carry a sparkling 2.49 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 55/15 K/BB ratio across 50 2/3 innings (nine starts) into a home outing on Tuesday against the Mariners. Rotoworld Thursday, 12:30 pm

      Morton (3-1) took the loss Wednesday versus the Cubs, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits and three walks while striking out four over three innings.

      Advice: Morton worked a high pitch count, needing 76 pitches (48 strikes) to get through three frames in his shortest outing of the season. He had pitched into the sixth inning in each of his other seven starts. The 40-year-old's poor start caused his ERA to balloon to 3.52 from 3.14, and he's sporting a 1.15 WHIP and 44:17 K:BB over 46 innings.       Charlie Morton had a rough start Wednesday allowing three earned runs in just three innings. The Cubs had five hits while Morton walked three more and struck out four.

      Advice: Mike Tauchman homered on the first pitch he saw from Morton and nothing was easy after that. Even the unearned he allowed was on his own poor pick-off attempt wide or Matt Olson at first base.
