Povich (1-3) took the loss against the Athletics on Saturday, allowing eight runs on five hits and three walks while striking out one batter over one-plus inning.

Advice: Povich got another turn in the rotation after pitching to an acceptable 4.05 ERA despite a 17:10 K:BB over his first five big-league starts, but he was overwhelmed by the league's third-lowest-scoring team. Oakland rocked the southpaw for three runs before he got his first out on a pair of walks and a Brent Rooker three-run homer. Things got worse for Povich in the second frame, as he allowed five straight baserunners to reach -- and yielded another three-run blast -- before mercifully being pulled having failed to retire a batter in the inning. Povich's ERA shot up to 6.51 as a result of the disastrous outing. If he remains in the rotation, his next turn is tentatively lined up to be a tough matchup against the Yankees. • Steals home in loss
Chapman went 1-for-3 with two walks, one stolen base and two runs scored in Saturday's 5-4 loss to the Guardians.

Advice: Tyler Fitzgerald stole second, and that gave Chapman enough time to dart home for the Giants' third run. Chapman has done it all over his last 15 games, batting .327 (18-for-55) with four home runs, three steals, 12 RBI and 14 runs scored in that span. Coming into 2024, he had stolen a total of 11 bases in his career, but he's already up to eight this season while adding 12 homers, 42 RBI, 58 runs scored and a .244/.328/.422 slash line through 87 games. • Crushed early in loss
Brown (6-6) took the loss against the Twins on Saturday, allowing seven runs on 12 hits and one walk with six strikeouts over six innings.

Advice: Brown entered Saturday on an impressive run of eight consecutive quality starts, but the Twins jumped him early for seven runs over the first three innings. He battled to finish with three scoreless frames but ultimately endured his worst outing since allowing six earned runs against Cleveland on April 30. The 25-year-old owns a 4.48 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 100:36 K:BB over 92.1 innings this season and will try to rebound against the Rangers next week. Rotowire.com Today, 5:49 pm
    • Follow-up MRI returns clean
Rodriguez's (shoulder) MRI came back clean Saturday, and he's expected to throw a bullpen session soon, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

Advice: Saturday's follow-up MRI confirmed that Rodriguez's shoulder has fully healed and marked the southpaw's final checkpoint to clear before beginning mound work. The 31-year-old hasn't pitched in 2024 and will require a lengthy ramp-up period that includes a rehab assignment before being activated from the injured list. Still, Rodriguez could be back in late July or early August. Rotowire.com Today, 4:45 pm
    • Wood has first home run, knocks in five in win
James Wood went 2-for-5 with a double, a home run and five RBI against the Cardinals on Saturday.

Advice: Wood hit his first double and home run in the major leagues in this game. He clubbed a three-run home run off Lance Lynn in the bottom of the second inning to make it 7-0 Nationals. In the third inning, he knocked in two more runs with a double. In 23 at-bats, he’s hitting .304 with an .885 OPS for Washington. Rotoworld Today, 4:45 pm
    • Julio Rodríguez will undergo MRI on injured quad
Julio Rodríguez is scheduled to undergo an MRI exam after leaving Saturday’s game against the Blue Jays in the first inning due to discomfort in his lower right quad area.

Advice: The 23-year-old outfielder looked uncomfortable while tracking a fly ball in the outfield during the top half of the first inning, then he was replaced by Ty France before he had a chance to take his first at-bat. The Mariners should have the results of his imaging before Sunday’s game, so expect another update on his status before then. Rotoworld Today, 4:38 pm

    • Eduardo Rodriguez to ramp up throwing progression
Eduardo Rodriguez (lat) will ramp up his throwing progression after receiving good news from his follow-up MRI on Saturday.

Advice: The 31-year-old hurler has yet to debut for the Diamondbacks due to a lat injury that has shelved him since spring training. He’ll resume throwing off of flat ground once again and stretch out from there. He’s still a long way away from potentially joining the Diamondbacks’ rotation — especially with all of the setbacks that he has experienced thus far. Rotoworld Today, 4:35 pm
    • Dealing with quad issue
Rodriguez was removed from Saturday's game against the Blue Jays with discomfort in his lower right quad, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports. Rodriguez will undergo an MRI Saturday night.

Advice: Rodriguez was lifted from the contest in the second inning before making a plate appearance with what we now know was left quad soreness. Saturday's MRI should provide more information on the severity of the injury. The Mariners will close out its series with Toronto on Sunday before having a team off day Monday. • Cade Povich gets three outs, allows eight runs
Cade Povich allowed eight runs in one-plus innings in a loss to the Athletics on Saturday.

Advice: Yikes. Povich allowed a three-run homer in the first to Brent Rooker, and then was absolutely shellacked in the second frame while giving up another three-run blast to Max Schuemann and two more runs after he left the game. Again, yikes. Povich has shown some solid stuff at various times since being brought up, but if you need any evidence that the command is still a work in progress, see above. If he stays in the rotation, he’s lined up to face the Yankees on Friday. Rotoworld Today, 4:14 pm
