    • Pete Fairbanks closes out Marlins on Wednesday
Pete Fairbanks slammed the door on the Marlins in the ninth inning on Wednesday, preserving a two-run lead to earn his eighth save of the season.

Advice: The 30-year-old right-hander made quick work of the Marlins in this one, getting Dane Myers on a swinging third strike, Tim Anderson on a ground ball to shortstop and Vidal Brujan on a line drive to center to end it. He needed just 11 pitches (10 strikes) to dispatch of the Fish. On the season, Fairbanks now sports a 3.32 ERA to go with a 22/10 K/BB ratio over 19 innings on the season. • Zach Eflin goes four innings in return from IL
Zach Eflin pitched well in his return from the injured list on Wednesday, allowing two runs on three hits over four frames in a no-decision against the Marlins.

Advice: Eflin struck out three batters on the evening and didn’t allow a base on balls. The Marlins scored a pair of two-out runs against him in the opening inning on an RBI double by Jesus Sanchez and an RBI single by Otto Lopez. He settled in nicely afterwards though and blanked the Fish over his final three innings. The 30-year-old hurler got five whiffs on 55 pitches in the contest, posting a CSW of only 18 percent. He’ll tote a 4.14 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and a 47/4 K/BB ratio (63 innings) into Tuesday’s start against the Cubs. Rotoworld Wednesday, 6:04 pm

    • Spencer Steer slugs go-ahead homer vs. Rockies
Spencer Steer walloped a go-ahead two-run homer in the ninth inning on Wednesday in the Reds’ comeback win over the Rockies.

Advice: Steer was the hero on Wednesday afternoon at Coors Field for Cincinnati as he delivered a clutch go-ahead homer off Rockies closer Jalen Beeks with the Reds down to their final out. It was his seventh round-tripper of the season. Rotoworld Wednesday, 4:31 pm

    • Jack Flaherty (back) confident he’ll make next start
Jack Flaherty (back) told reporters on Wednesday that he’s confident he’ll make his next scheduled start on Tuesday against the Nationals.

Advice: While most players express optimism in all injury situations, it’s at least encouraging that he hasn’t been placed on the injured list as of yet. The 28-year-old hurler was pulled from Tuesday’s outing against the Rangers after just 60 pitches due to tightness in his back. Flaherty did say that he still felt some stiffness in his back on Wednesday, but that it’s improved from where he was on Tuesday. Fantasy managers should have a contingency option in place in the event that Flaherty can’t give it a go next week. Rotoworld Wednesday, 3:35 pm

    • Gets aboard three times in loss
Garcia went 2-for-4 with a walk, one stolen base and two runs scored in Tuesday's 8-5 loss to the Guardians.

Advice: Garcia is making excellent contact lately with multiple hits in nine of his last 16 games. He's gone hitless just three times in that span. It took a while for the third baseman to get into a rhythm at the plate, but the Royals stuck with him atop the lineup due to his speed. Garcia is slashing .267/.316/.398 with five home runs, 14 steals, 35 RBI, 40 runs scored, 12 doubles and three triples through 60 contests. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 10:13 am

    • Start could be pushed to Friday
The Orioles are considering pushing Bradish's next scheduled start back a day to Friday in Tampa Bay, Danielle Allentuck of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.

Advice: Cade Povich will join Baltimore's taxi squad and looks in line to be called up from Triple-A Norfolk to start against the Blue Jays on Thursday, which had been Bradish's turn. Bradish doesn't seem to be battling any physical issue, but rather the team is simply looking to give him a little extra rest. Bradish is coming off his worst start of the season, having allowed five runs on seven hits and three walks over 2.2 frames against the Rays this past Saturday. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 9:05 am
    • Activated for Wednesday's start
The Rays reinstated Eflin (back) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Wednesday versus the Marlins in Miami.

Advice: Tampa Bay optioned right-hander Justin Sterner to Triple-A Durham to clear the way for Eflin's return to the 26-man active roster. Eflin missed just over the minimum 15 days while recovering from lower-back inflammation, and the Rays signed off on him returning from the IL without a rehab assignment after he completed a 40-pitch, two-inning simulated bullpen session Sunday. According to MLB.com, manager Kevin Cash suggested that Eflin could face some limitations with his workload Wednesday, but the Rays will wait and see how the right-hander fares as the game unfolds before making any decisions on whether to cut his start short. • On base four times in return
Young went 3-for-3 with a walk and two RBI in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Mets.

Advice: The center fielder had missed the prior two games due to swelling in his throwing hand, but Young was the Nationals' most effective offensive weapon in his return, collecting half of the team's six hits on the night. The 24-year-old offers basically no power -- his last extra-base hit was a double on May 19 -- but through 49 games this season he's batting .282 with 17 steals, 25 runs and 16 RBI.
