    Rangers selected the contract of OF Derek Hill from Triple-A Round Rock.

    Advice: Hill’s first stint with the Rangers ended prematurely earlier this month because the team wanted to add an infielder due to Corey Seager being banged up. He’ll get another look as a reserve outfielder now. The former first-round pick was hitting .350/.415/.631 with eight homers and seven steals in 42 games for Round Rock. The 29-year-old Alvarez had his contract selected Saturday, marking his first big-league stint since entering the minors in 2016.
