    Advice: Pham continues to produce out of the leadoff spot for Chicago. His average is up to .333 on the season. He’s been one of the best pickups of the season considering he started the year without a team.

  • Three hits in Thursday's win
    Brown went 3-for-6 with a double, a stolen base and three runs scored in Thursday's 10-9 extra-innings win over the Rockies.

    Advice: Brown didn't get much of a chance to drive in runs Thursday -- the first three batters in the Athletics' order went a combined 2-for-16 with two walks. Brown made up for it by hitting well and serving as the spark to get the Oakland offense going. He also scored the winning run in a frantic 11th-inning comeback. The outfielder's three-hit effort marked his fifth straight game with at least one hit, a stretch that's raised his slash line to .206/.254/.357 for the year. He's added five home runs, three steals, 13 RBI and 10 runs scored over 134 plate appearances. Brown has often found a spot in the lineup versus right-handed pitchers, but there will be a bit more pressure for him to perform with Daz Cameron called up Thursday to add to the Athletics' outfield depth.     Happ went 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Thursday's 3-0 loss to Atlanta.

    Advice: Happ is batting just .221 (15-for-68) in May, but he's also recorded both of his steals for the year this month. The veteran outfielder has a career-worst .652 OPS and .218 batting average over 46 contests while adding two home runs, 14 RBI and 23 runs scored.     Advice: Varsho came to the plate in a tie game in the seventh inning and hit a two-run home run off Tigers starter Jack Flaherty that put the Blue Jays ahead for good.     Advice: Kelenic opened the scoring in the fifth inning, taking Hayden Wesneski deep. This was Kelenic's third straight game with a hit, and all three of his homers this year have come over his last 11 contests, a span in which he's hitting .222 (8-for-36). The outfielder is at a .248/.293/.376 slash line with eight RBI, 11 runs scored, five doubles and no stolen bases over 116 plate appearances. He is likely to remain limited to a strong-side platoon role in left field, sharing the position with Adam Duvall, unless either outfielder goes on an extended hot streak.     Advice: Martini has started the last two games in right field, replacing Jake Fraley (hand). Prior to Thursday, Martini was stuck in an 0-for-15 drought at the major-league level, though the slump spanned a demotion to Triple-A Louisville. He snapped it with a second-inning single before tying this contest with a two-run blast in the sixth. For the season, Martini is slashing .184/.204/.356 with four homers, 17 RBI, 15 runs scored and no stolen bases across 93 plate appearances. There's room for all three outfielders in the lineup versus right-handed pitchers, while Peralta is likely to sit against southpaws. He filled a similar strong-side platoon role with the Dodgers in 2023, slashing .259/.294/.381 with seven home runs, 55 RBI and four stolen bases.
