The utility man, who drew the start at catcher on Saturday, would then top off his monster day at the plate by crushing a two-run homer in the seventh and an RBI groundout in the eighth. He finished with season highs in hits (four), RBI (five) and runs scored (three) after coming into the contest on an 0-for-14 skid to open the month of June.     Corbin Carroll hit two doubles while scoring twice in a loss to the White Sox on Saturday.

    Advice: Carroll was one of the few hitters who had any success against Erick Fedde and the White Sox bullpen, and he scored the only two runs in the contest for the D-Backs.     Advice: Canzone got in the lineup for the first time since Wednesday, after the Mariners faced left-handed starters Thursday and Friday.   • Toglia hits grand slam as Rockies clobber Pirates
    Michael Toglia hit a grand slam in a blowout victory for the Rockies over the Pirates on Saturday.

    Advice: Toglia turned a comfortable lead of 11-4 into a certified blowout with his grand slam off Dennis Santana. It’s the second time he’s cleared the bases and made it home on the same play in 2024, but the other one was a Little League slam against the Cardinals.   • Hunter Goodman homers twice, drives in five
    Hunter Goodman homered twice, picked up four hits and drove in five runs in a 16-4 shellacking of the Pirates on Saturday.

    Advice: Goodman also scored three runs in a monster game for the 24-year-old. There haven’t been many for the infielder/backstop, but he showed off his impressive raw power with a pair of homers to center; one a solo shot and the other a two-run blast.
