• Max Scheumann slugs solo homer Wednesday
Max Schuemann went 1-for-3 with a solo homer and a walk against the Angels on Wednesday.

Advice: Schuemann gave the A’s a three-run lead with a solo homer off Davis Daniel in the fifth inning, his only hit of the game. He later drew a walk. The 27-year-old shortstop is slashing .230/.321/.333 with four homers, 27 runs scored, and six steals across 214 plate appearances. Rotoworld Wednesday, 9:03 pm

  • Josh Smith knocks in run with a double
Josh Smith went 1-for-4 an RBI double on Wednesday against the Padres.

Advice: Smith’s double was the third Rangers’ run in a three-run third inning off Adam Mazur. It felt like they’d be in for a big night before being shut down by the Padres bullpen. Still, Smith will not stop hitting and he’s slotted in either second or third the Rangers’ lineup for 12 straight games. Hit smack dab in the middle of Marcus Semien, Corey Seager, Adolis García, and Wyatt Langford is a great place to accumulate runs and RBI. Rotoworld Wednesday, 8:55 pm

  • Brooks Lee has two hits, RBI in MLB debut
Brooks Lee had a memorable MLB debut in Wednesday’s loss to the Tigers, going 2-for-4 with a pair of singles and an RBI.

Advice: After taking a called third strike from Keider Montero in his first at-bat, Lee shot a sharp single into center field in the fourth inning for his first big-league hit. He added his first RBI in the seventh inning, plating Byron Buxton with a single to center. He’s going to play on a nightly basis with Royce Lewis (groin) shelved and deserves consideration in all mixed leagues. Rotoworld Wednesday, 7:37 pm

  • Oneil Cruz delivers walk-off hit to beat Cardinals
Oneil Cruz delivered a game-winning single in the 10th inning on Wednesday, leading the Pirates to a 5-4 walk-off victory over the Cardinals.

Advice: Cruz followed Bryan Reynolds’ game-tying single in the bottom of the 10th-inning by scalding a 106-mph line-drive to right field off Cardinals reliever JoJo Romero that sent the Pirates faithful home in walk-off fashion. The 25-year-old shortstop recorded an impressive three batted ball events in the extra-inning marathon with exit velocities over 106 mph. There have been some considerable ups and down this season for Cruz, which isn’t totally unexpected after missing nearly all of last year due to a serious leg injury, but he’s had some extremely promising moments. This certainly qualifies as a highlight-reel moment, especially if the Pirates finally wind up making it back to the postseason. Rotoworld Wednesday, 6:51 pm

  • Corey Seager added to Rangers lineup on Wednesday
Corey Seager (hand) was added to the Rangers’ starting lineup for Wednesday night’s battle against the Padres.

Advice: As manager Bruce Bochy had alluded to earlier in the day, Seager checked out good and was a late addition to the Rangers’ lineup. Jonathan Ornelas — who had been scheduled to start at third base — was scratched from the lineup with Josh Smith shifting back from shortstop to third base. Rotoworld Wednesday, 3:51 pm

  • Returns to lineup Wednesday
Seager (wrist) is starting at shortstop and batting second in Wednesday's game against the Padres.

Advice: Seager missed the last two games after being struck in the left wrist by a pitch Saturday against Baltimore. He was originally slated to begin Wednesday's game in the dugout, but Seager will return to the starting lineup, bumping Josh Smith to third base and Jonathan Ornelas to the bench. • Absent from lineup
Mateo is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mariners.

Advice: Mateo has gone 0-for-7 with one walk and two strikeouts over his last two games, and he will begin Wednesday's contest on the bench. Jordan Westburg and Ramon Urias will start at second and third base, respectively. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 3:35 pm

  • Progressing, could play Wednesday
Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said Seager (wrist) is feeling "a lot better" and will talk with the shortstop to see if he's doing well enough to play Wednesday against the Padres, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The 30-year-old is currently absent from Texas' starting nine for Wednesday's contest, but there's apparently a chance he's a late addition to the lineup. Regardless of whether or not Seager ends up starting the game, it's an encouraging development for his availability going forward. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 2:26 pm

  • Corey Seager (hand) out of Rangers initial lineup
Corey Seager (hand) is not in the Rangers’ initial starting lineup for Wednesday night’s showdown against the Padres.

Advice: Rangers’ skipper Bruce Bochy did say that he’ll talk to Seager before the game though and that there’s a chance he could still be added to the lineup. Either way, that bodes well for his status going forward as he seems very close to a return. Expect him back in action on Thursday if he doesn’t talk his way into Wednesday’s lineup.
