• Battling knee tendinitis
Reds manager David Bell said Wednesday that Candelario is dealing with knee tendinitis that is "progressively not getting better" and "maybe a bit worse," Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Advice: Candelario -- who is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Pirates -- was removed from a game last week with the knee issue, and it has continued to nag at him. Bell noted that Candelario is still able to play but added that the infielder will be re-evaluated later Wednesday as the club decides how to best handle the situation. With Noelvi Marte looking likely to return from an 80-game suspension Thursday to provide the club another option at third base, it's possible the Reds will choose to put Candelario on the injured list if they determine his knee would improve with some extended rest. • Connor Joe gets start in right versus righty
Connor Joe is in the Pirates lineup Wednesday for the first time in five games.

Advice: Joe was playing regularly against righties last month, but a slump changed that, and since the Pirates have been in a stretch in which they’ve faced righties in 17 of 19 games, he hasn’t had a big role. He currently has a .459 OPS in June after coming in at .853 in April and .737 in May. For the season, he has a .649 OPS against righties and an .825 OPS versus lefties. Rotoworld Today, 8:09 am

  • Receiving rest Wednesday
Candelario is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates.

Advice: Candelario will get a routine day off after he had been in the lineup for each of the previous five contests. Spencer Steer and Santiago Espinal will occupy the corner-infield spots for the Reds on Wednesday. Rotowire.com Today, 7:40 am

  • Still at third base
Smith started at third base and went 1-for-3 with an RBI in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Brewers. He was also hit by a pitch.

Advice: Smith gave the Rangers an early lead in the top of the first inning but the offense was silenced for the last eight frames. The HBP was his second in as many games and third over the last five; he leads MLB in that category with 12. It was thought Smith's run at third base might come to end this week, but Josh Jung (wrist) experienced a setback and is not expected to return during the Rangers' road trip that ends Sunday in Baltimore. • Drives in five in loss
Judge went 2-for-3 with a walk, a double, a home run and five RBI in Tuesday's 9-7 loss to the Mets.

Advice: Most of his damage came on a grand slam in the eighth inning off Reed Garrett as the Yankees tried to mount a comeback from a 9-1 deficit. Judge is putting the finishing touches on a mammoth June that has seen him slash .386/.500/.871 with nine homers and 30 RBI in 20 games. Rotowire.com Today, 5:33 am

  • Picks up steal
Kwan went 1-for-5 with one RBI, a stolen base and one run scored in Tuesday's 10-8 win over the Orioles.

Advice: Kwan has let his bat do the talking since he returned from a hamstring injury, going 33-for-75 (.440) over his last 19 contests. Predictably, he hasn't tried his luck much on the bases, going 1-for-2 in stolen base attempts in that span. He's now at a .385/.443/.563 slash line with seven home runs, 24 RBI, 48 runs scored and four steals over 51 contests, and it's safe to assume his speed will remain down given his history of hamstring issues. • Opens scoring with homer
Machado went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 9-7 win over the Nationals.

Advice: Machado has gone 14-for-38 (.368) over his last 10 contests, adding two homers and eight RBI in that span. The third baseman opened the scoring when he took MacKenzie Gore deep in the first inning Tuesday. Machado is still playing catch-up after a slow start to the campaign, but he's up to a .260/.314/.389 slash line with eight homers, 40 RBI, 34 runs scored and five stolen bases through 76 contests. His .703 OPS is the highest it's been since May 5. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:53 pm

  • Clubs leadoff homer in win
Ohtani went 2-for-4 with a home run, a walk, two RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's 4-3 win versus the White Sox.

Advice: The Dodgers' designated hitter crushed Chris Flexen's fifth pitch of the game 376 feet for a leadoff homer. Ohtani has now batted atop the order eight consecutive games while hitting .419 (13-for-31) with five homers, 14 RBI and 10 runs scored. The Japanese superstar may be on his way to a third MVP campaign, as he's slashing .318/.395/.626 with 24 homers, 63 runs scored, 60 RBI and 16 steals over 356 plate appearances this season. • Ohtani homers, pushes RBI streak to nine games
Shohei Ohtani went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Tuesday’s win over the White Sox.

Advice: Chris Flexen’s fifth pitch of the night turned into a 400-foot homer by Ohtani to kick off the first inning. Ohtani’s homer extended his RBI streak to nine games, which ties the Dodgers’ single-season record. Ohtani would drive in another run in the fourth on an RBI single, as he’s now driven in 16 runs over this nine-game span. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:20 pm
