      Astros manager Joe Espada said Thursday that Javier (neck) will begin a rehab assignment over the weekend, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

      Advice: Espada didn't specify exactly when Javier's first rehab appearance will be, nor did he say how long the 27-year-old right-hander will remain in the minors. However, there had been speculation that Javier would be able to avoid a rehab assignment completely, so he may only need to make one start before returning to an Astros rotation that has already dealt with numerous injuries this season.     • Kyle Harrison holds Red Sox to one in no-decision
      Kyle Harrison went five innings while allowing one run on three hits with seven strikeouts against the Red Sox on Thursday.

      Advice: It wasn’t always easy for Harrison despite the strong line. The left-hander didn’t find the strike zone on a consistent basis, as he issued five walks with 57-of-95 pitches counting for strikes. Still, the 22-year-old was able to work around those free passes thanks in large part to those aforementioned strikeouts, and he’s allowed just one run over his last two starts.       Christopher Morel connected on a three-run homer Thursday in an extra-inning loss to the Mets.

      Advice: Morel extended the Cubs’ lead to 4-0 in the fifth with a three-run blast off Adrian Houser. The second-year infielder has gone deep five times, and he’s now up to 17 RBI over Chicago’s 32 games.     • Cristian Javier to make rehab start this weekend
      Cristian Javier (neck) will begin a minor league rehab assignment this weekend.

      Advice: It’s an extremely encouraging development for Houston’s injury-plagued rotation as Javier appears close to returning after landing on the injured list back on April 21 with neck discomfort.       Bassitt (2-5) took the loss Wednesday, giving up three runs on four hits and a walk over six innings as the Blue Jays fell 6-1 to the Royals. He struck out four.

      Advice: The veteran righty took a no-hitter into the sixth inning, but a leadoff double by Kyle Isbel kicked off a three-run frame for Kansas City, and with Seth Lugo also pitching extremely well, Bassitt had no margin for error. He tossed 62 of 92 pitches for strikes in his third quality start of the season, but Bassitt will carry a shaky 5.45 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and 34:18 K:BB through 36.1 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road next week in Philadelphia.       Clase earned the save over the Astros on Wednesday, striking out one over a perfect 10th inning.

      Advice: Clase entered the contest with a one-run lead in the bottom of the 10th and needed only five pitches to retire the side and secure his ninth save of the season. The right-hander has now converted each of his last five save attempts (over nine appearances), posting a 10:1 K:BB over that stretch.       Cabrera went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and a stolen base during Wednesday's 2-0 win over the Orioles.

      Advice: Cabrera tagged Corbin Burnes for a two-run shot in the fifth inning, plating Jose Trevino for the Yankees' only runs. The long ball was Cabrera's first since April 13. His two hits were his first of the series, entering Wednesday's contest 0-for-7 in the first two games of the four-game bill. He struck out the first batter, then got Mauricio Dubón to line into a double play with the help of an outstanding diving catch by Steven Kwan.       Oswaldo Cabrera swatted a two-run homer off of Corbin Burnes on Wednesday night, powering the Yankees to a 2-0 victory over the Orioles in Baltimore.

      Advice: Cabrera accounted for the only scoring for either team in the ballgame, poking a 352-foot (103.3 mph EV) two-out, two-run homer just over the wall in right field and just inside the foul pole to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead in the fifth inning. He also singled in the ballgame and swiped a base, finishing the night 2-for-3.
