  • Tyler Stephenson homers in loss
    Tyler Stephenson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

    Advice: Stephenson took Paul Sewald deep 399 feet at 101.2 mph off the bat for his fourth home run of the season. He also had a 101.6 mph flyout and a 96.4 mph flyout on the day. Despite slashing just .213/.318/.413 on the season, Stephenson is posting an 18.5 percent barrel rate and a career-high 13 percent walk rate. He’s being far more patient at the plate and is swinging and missing less than he ever has.   • Bobby Miller throws another bullpen session
    Bobby Miller (shoulder) threw another bullpen session earlier this week.

    Advice: Miller is expected to get in another throwing session later this week before heading out on a minor league rehab assignment. The hard-throwing 25-year-old righty has been out since mid-April due to right shoulder inflammation. It sounds like he’ll be ready to return to the Dodgers’ starting rotation before the end of May.   • Montas takes tough luck loss in return from IL
    Frankie Montas allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits in six innings in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

    Advice: Montas was sharp in his return from the IL, striking out seven and walking just one. He allowed just one extra-base hit on the day and his two runs were driven in on a fielder’s choice and single to score a runner who was only on because of an Elly De La Cruz error. Montas was throwing two mph harder on every pitch in his arsenal; however, he was only able to get strikeouts on his splitter and registered a 25 percent CSW. It feels a little bit like Montas will still go as far as his splitter will take him, which makes him a risky proposition in fantasy leagues but one you can likely start against the Giants this weekend.   • Rutschman extends hit streak to five in loss
    Adley Rutschman went 1-for-4 in the Orioles’ 3-0 loss to the Nationals on Tuesday.

    Advice: Offense was hard to come by for the Orioles in this one, as Rutschman’s hit was one of just three the Birds recorded on the evening. The real story of the night was the Nationals pitching, as starter Trevor Williams struck out eight batters over five innings while the bullpen notched four more K’s. Rutschman has now hit safely in five straight games and is 8-for-25 at the plate in the month of May. Rotoworld 14 minutes ago
     
  • Burnes allows three earned runs in loss to Nats
    Corbin Burnes allowed five hits and three earned runs over 6 1/3 innings in Tuesday’s loss to the Nationals.

    Advice: Burnes needed 50 pitches to get through the first three innings and allowed his first run in the second inning when Joey Meneses singled home Jesse Winker. He allowed four base runners through the first three innings but would settle in to retire nine of 10 hitters in innings four through six. He’d be chased quickly in the seventh after a leadoff double by Joey Meneses was followed by RBI singles from Eddie Rosario and Trey Lipscomb, but it was an otherwise solid outing for Burnes, who lacked offensive support in this one.   • Ramirez has three-hit game in loss Tuesday
    Jose Ramirez went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run scored in the loss to the Tigers Tuesday.

    Advice: Ramirez increased his average to .245 on the season. His .231 BABIP is well below his career .280 BABIP. Despite the low average so far for the career .278 hitter, Ramirez has still managed 24 runs, seven home runs and 30 RBI in 35 games this year. Rotoworld 19 minutes ago

    Kyle Finnegan recorded his 12th save of the season in Tuesday’s win over the Orioles.

    Advice: Finnegan pitched a perfect ninth inning to close out the Orioles in the 3-0 win. The Nationals closer is now 12-of-13 in save opportunities this season and is a perfect 3-for-3 in save opportunities this month.   • Meneses tallies two hits, one RBI vs. Orioles
    Joey Meneses went 2-for-4 with a double, one RBI, and one run scored in Tuesday’s win over the Orioles.



    Advice: Meneses singled in the second inning to score Jesse Winker from second and kicked off a two-run seventh inning with a leadoff double. He also struck out with two runners in scoring position in the eighth inning with no outs. The veteran first baseman has struggled to get the bat going this season but has tallied five hits in his last five games while also drawing three walks.   • Trevor Williams strikes out eight in win over O’s
    Trevor Williams struck out eight over five shutout innings on Tuesday in a win over the Orioles.

    Advice: Williams got off to a strong start in this one, striking out eight of the first 15 batters he faced while allowing just one baserunner. It was a strong outing for Williams, whose eight strikeouts tied a career-high. He was pulled after 77 pitches, with short outings being par for the course for him this season. Williams lowered his ERA to 1.96 on the year and has allowed one earned run or less in five of his seven starts on the year.
