      Baez went 0-for-3 with a strikeout in Saturday's 6-3 loss to the Red Sox, dropping his season batting average to .190.

      Advice: It looked like Baez was maybe turning things around when he recorded seven hits across two games on May 17 and 18. However, he's gone just 4-for-33 in nine games since then, and he's hitless over his last three contests. The shortstop's .190 average would be his worst since he batted .169 across 52 games as a 21-year-old rookie back in 2014.       Swanson went 1-for-3 with a walk, a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Saturday's 7-5 win against Cincinnati.

      Advice: Swanson started June off on the right foot after only going deep once in 17 games all of last month. The shortstop has only five total home runs this season, but he also missed some time with knee soreness, which likely contributed to the slow start. If fully healthy, Swanson has the ability to get going in the power department, as he hit 20 or more long balls in each of the last three seasons with the Cubs and Atlanta.       Perdomo started at shortstop and went 1-for-3 with a run scored for the Diamondbacks' entry in the Arizona Complex League on Saturday.

      Advice: Perdomo, who played five innings in the field, made his second ACL appearance after getting four at-bats Friday as the designated hitter.       Alexander started at second base and went 2-for-5 with a stolen base, an RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's 10-5 win over the Mets.

      Advice: Alexander made his first start in five days and had a hand in both runs scored in the sixth inning. After singling in a run, he stole second base, advanced to third on a wild pitch then scored on a throwing error by the catcher. Alexander's playing time dwindled during May -- a month in which he batted .184 with just 38 at-bats -- and he could be in danger of losing a roster spot once Geraldo Perdomo (knee) returns.       Urshela went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 6-3 loss to the Red Sox.

      Advice: The third baseman made the final score a little more respectable by taking Brad Keller deep in the ninth inning. Urshela has only two homers on the season, but both have come during the current series in Boston, and he seems to have shaken off the rust following an IL stint due to a hamstring strain that cost him 21 games -- over the last seven contests, he's batting .348 (8-for-23).     • Ezequiel Tovar tallies three more hits in loss
      Ezequiel Tovar went 3-for-4 with a double on Saturday in the Rockies’ loss to the Dodgers.

      Advice: Tovar notched his second consecutive three-hit performance to raise his batting average to .302 (71-for-235) with eight homers and four steals through 56 contests. The 22-year-old shortstop has been an unexpected batting average booster this season and wound up leading the National League with 16 extra-base hits during the month of May. That’ll do.       Casey Schmitt went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer on Saturday in the Giants’ loss to the Yankees.

      Advice: Schmitt slashed San Francisco’s early deficit in half by taking Yankees starter Cody Poteet deep to left-center field in the third inning. It was his first round-tripper of the season. He was the lone Giants’ batter to reach base more than once during Saturday’s one-sided affair at Oracle Park as Yankees starter Cody Poteet and a quartet of relievers limited them to just five hits combined.     • Anthony Volpe extends on-base streak to 28 games
      Anthony Volpe went 1-for-4 with a double on Saturday in the Yankees’ win over the Giants.

      Advice: Volpe’s 21-game hitting streak came to an end during Thursday’s series finale against the Angels when he went 0-for-5, but he’s reached base safely in 28 consecutive contests since May 2, which puts him in a tie with teammate Aaron Judge for the longest active streak in the game. The 23-year-old is excelling at the dish in the wake of last offseason’s offensive overhaul to his swing and approach.       Schuemann went 4-for-4 with an RBI single, a double and three runs in a win over Atlanta on Saturday.

      Advice: The rookie shortstop was a thorn in the side of Atlanta pitching all night, putting together a stellar night out of the bottom of the order. Schuemann gave his average a 28-point boost to .266 with the multi-hit effort, his third in the last eight contests. He's also scored at least one run in five consecutive games, and his prolific performance Saturday also included his first game over the last eight without a strikeout.
