      Advice: Pillar had gone 1-for-10 over his first four games in June before this multi-hit effort. His second-inning homer was all the Angels could put up against Framber Valdez, who pitched a complete game. Pillar is up to seven homers, 26 RBI, 17 runs scored and a .324/.379/.590 slash line over 117 plate appearances between the Angels and the White Sox this season. Despite his strong numbers recently, he's been on the bench for two of the last five games, which suggests Pillar doesn't have a full-time role against right-handed pitchers.       Crochet (5-4) yielded two runs (one earned) on three hits and two walks over six innings Friday, striking out 10 and earning a win over the Red Sox.

      Advice: Crochet gave up a pair of runs in the third inning but only one was earned due to his own throwing error. He's produced quality starts in four straight appearances and six of his last seven. Crochet generated 17 whiffs and racked up double-digit strikeouts for the fourth time this season. Since April 29, he's produced a ridiculous 1.37 ERA with a 63:9 K:BB in eight starts. Crochet will carry a 3.33 ERA into his next start, which is expected to be in Seattle next week.     • Garrett Crochet fans 10 as White Sox snap skid
      Garrett Crochet yielded two runs — one earned — and struck out 10 in six innings as the White Sox defeated the Red Sox 7-2 to snap a 14-game losing streak.

      Advice: The White Sox’s previous win also, not coincidentally, came in a Crochet start on May 21. He has six of the White Sox’s 16 victories on the year.       Scott (5-4) struck out two batters over 1.2 perfect frames and earned a win over the Guardians on Friday.

      Advice: Scott entered a tie game in the eighth inning and forced a double play to escape the first-and-third jam he inherited. He then struck out two in the ninth inning before Miami walked it off in the bottom of the frame. After some early season struggles, Scott has now gone 18 straight innings without allowing an earned run. His season ERA has fallen to 1.40 with a 27:19 K:BB through 25.2 innings.       Tanner Scott pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings and notched a win in relief Friday against the Guardians.

      Advice: Scott came into a tie game in the eighth and stayed in to finish after the Marlins took a one-run lead. It’s his fifth win of the year, all coming since Apr. 30.     • Irvin allows three runs and picks up win Friday
      Cole Irvin allowed three runs (two earned) in 5 2/3 innings and got the win in the Orioles’ 6-3 victory over the Rays on Friday.



      Advice: Irvin gave up eight hits, walked none and struck out six. The win was his sixth of the season. Irvin hasn’t allowed more than three earned runs since his second start of the year back on April 10th. His ERA on the season is now 2.87, though his 4.19 xFIP tells a different story. The 30-year-old left-hander will see if he can keep it going against the Braves at home next week.

    • Set to undergo UCL surgery
      Manager John Schneider said Friday that Manoah will undergo UCL surgery June 17, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

      Advice: Manoah left in the second inning of his last start May 29 against the White Sox, and he was placed on the injured list two days later with what was diagnosed as a right UCL sprain. Manoah began the season on the IL with right shoulder inflammation, and since returning May 5, he's posted a 1-2 record with a 3.70 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 26:8 K:BB over 24.1 innings.
