    • Takes another loss
Pressly (0-3) allowed an earned run on one hit and one walk across one inning to take the loss Sunday against the Twins.

Advice: Pressly allowed a leadoff walk, which ultimately became the game-winning run for the Twins. He took his second loss in his last three appearances, and Pressly has allowed three earned runs in that span. Though he has had stretches of effectiveness this season, he now owns a 5.06 ERA and 1.59 WHIP across 21.1 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:18 pm

    • Cleared to start Wednesday
Singer (illness) is listed as the Royals' probable starting pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Guardians in Cleveland, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Singer looks to be in the clear on the health front after an unspecified illness left him feeling lethargic and unable to play catch Wednesday before the Royals opted to scratch him from his scheduled start Thursday against the Twins, according to ESPN.com. He apparently demonstrated enough progress over the weekend and shouldn't face any major workload restrictions when he takes the hill Wednesday. Through 11 starts this season, Singer has gone 4-2 with a 2.63 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 64:19 across 61.2 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:04 pm
    • Allows five runs in loss
Brown (1-2) allowed five runs on six hits across five innings to take the loss Sunday against the Reds. He walked one and struck out six.

Advice: Brown actually pitched decently, but he was done in by a three-run home run by TJ Friedl and a lack of run support in the 5-2 loss. The five runs allowed are the rookie's most since he gave up six in his MLB debut back on March 30. Outside of the few hiccups, Brown has been pretty solid, and he's still sitting with a strong 3.33 ERA across 51.1 innings to go along with 61 strikeouts. The righty is penciled in to start again on Saturday against this same Cincinnati squad, though the pending return of Jordan Wicks (forearm) could push Brown out of the rotation after that. • Tigers will option Spencer Torkelson to Triple-A
Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports that the Tigers plan to option slumping first baseman Spencer Torkelson to Triple-A Toledo.

Advice: Torkelson, the top overall selection from the 2020 draft, has slashed a miserable .201/.266/.330 through his first 230 plate appearances with only four homers, 18 RBI and a 56/16 K/BB ratio. He has been especially bad as of late, mired in a 3-for-33 (.091) funk with a 13/3 K/BB ratio over his last nine games. Justyn-Henry Malloy will be promoted from Triple-A Toledo to take Torkelson’s spot on the Tigers’ active roster. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:40 pm
    • Heading to Triple-A
The Tigers are expected to option Torkelson to Triple-A Toledo on Monday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Advice: Torkelson was held out of the lineup for two of the Tigers' last three games after struggling to a .201/.266/.330 slash line with four home runs, 18 RBI and 24 runs scored over 229 plate appearances in 54 games this season. The first baseman will look to hit the reset button with Toledo before potentially returning to Detroit's major-league roster down the road. In the meantime, Justyn-Henry Malloy is set to be called up from Triple-A to replace Torkelson on the 26-man active roster. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:21 pm
    • Bat remains hot
Bregman went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run Sunday against the Twins.

Advice: Bregman is starting to heat up, collecting his fourth homer in six games along with adding his fifth multi-hit effort over the last eight. Sunday's performance lifted Bregman's slash line to .229/.287/.395 while during this recent eight-game run he's batting 12-for-32 (.375) with four homers, seven RBI and five runs scored. • Ben Brown struggles in follow-up to no-hit effort
Ben Brown allowed five runs on six hits in five innings in a loss to the Reds on Sunday.

Advice: Brown struck out six and walked one, but he was far more hittable in this one than last week. Brown did post a 32 percent whiff rate and 36 percent CSW on the day, but much of that was on the back of his curveball, which is a strong pitch. His four-seam fastball is less impressive, and Brown threw it 70 percent of the time on Sunday, which is part of the downside of Brown as a two-pitch pitcher. Brown has a 3.33 ERA on the season and has clear strikeout upside, but his limited pitch mix will make him a volatile fantasy asset and with Jordan Wicks set to return from the injured list, there’s no telling how many more starts Brown will make after next week’s start in Cincinnati. • Abrams scratched again Sunday against Guardians
CJ Abrams was scratched from Sunday’s lineup against the Guardians due to illness.

Advice: Never mind. Abrams was scratched Saturday due to illness, and the infielder was back in the lineup Sunday originally only to have the same thing occur. The infielder should be considered day-to-day. Ildemaro Vargas is starting at shortstop in his place. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:54 am

    • Scratched again Sunday
Abrams (shoulder) was scratched from Sunday's lineup against the Guardians, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

Advice: Abrams was penciled in to start at shortstop and bat leadoff but has instead been scratched for the second straight game due to a jammed left shoulder. The 23-year-old should be considered day-to-day heading into Monday's series opener versus the Mets. Ildemaro Vargas will start at shortstop Sunday in place of Abrams. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:49 am
