    • Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) starting Friday at AAA
Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) will make a minor league rehab start on Friday for Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Advice: It’ll be Kershaw’s third rehab outing as he continues to progress towards a mid-to-late August season debut coming off last year’s shoulder surgery. The 36-year-old veteran lefty struck out five over three shutout innings last weekend for Triple-A Oklahoma City. He figures to make an impact for fantasy managers over the final few weeks of the year, even in shallow mixed leagues. The results have been there for the future Hall of Fame southpaw, when healthy, over the last few years. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:50 pm
    • Still no timetable for return
Astros general manager Dana Brown said in an interview Thursday on "The Sean Salisbury Show" that Tucker (shin) remains without a timeline for a return from the 10-day injured list, Michael Schwab of The Juice Box Journal reports.

Advice: Brown added that Tucker is doing some light on-field baseball activities and will require a rehab assignment before being activated. Tucker has been sidelined since early June with a right shin contusion. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:02 pm

    • Tucker has only resumed light, on-field activities
According to The Athletic’s Chandler Rome, Kyle Tucker has “only resumed light, on-field baseball activities that did not include hitting.”

Advice: Tucker’s injury is still being referred to as a “right shin contusion” or a “bone bruise” but Tucker admits that he “can’t do everything normally right now.” If Tucker doesn’t begin a minor-league rehab assignment within the next week, it would make it unlikely that he can return before August. The other factor to keep in mind is that, if the pain persists, Tucker might have to manage the injury when he returns which could limit how much he runs or even his comfort in the batter’s box. • Strong start spoiled
Gilbert tossed seven scoreless innings Sunday against the Angels, allowing just two hits and no walks while striking out nine. He did not factor into the decision.

Advice: Gilbert was magnificent once again and had another strong start wasted by the bullpen. Gilbert exited with a 2-0 lead that vanished in the eighth inning after two walks and a three-run homer by Jo Adell put the Angels in front for good. Sunday was the fifth time this season that Gilbert did not allow a run in a start and his nine strikeouts tied a season high. The 27-year-old will head into the break with a 2.79 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 124:25 K:BB in 132.1 innings. Since he pitched Sunday, Gilbert will not be available to throw in Tuesday's All-Star Game. • Pulled in the third
Singer was saddled with the loss Sunday, allowing four runs on eight hits and a walk over 2.2 innings against the Red Sox. He struck out three.

Advice: Singer couldn't put things together Sunday, allowing separate two-run homers in each of the first and second innings, then loading the bases in the third prior to being pulled. It was the shortest outing of the season for Singer, who entered the contest having allowed only one earned run during each of his previous four starts. He enters the All-Star break ranked 10th in the majors with a 3.20 ERA to go along with a 1.23 WHIP and 99 strikeouts over 19 starts spanning 104 innings. Rotowire.com Sunday, 10:20 pm
    • Solid in abbreviated start
Scherzer didn't factor into the decision Sunday against Houston, allowing one run on four hits and one walk with six strikeouts across four innings.

Advice: Scherzer didn't complete five innings for the first time since being activated from the injured list June 23 and threw only 71 pitches after tossing 95 pitches in his previous start. Though he didn't go deep into the contest, Scherzer was very effective, with the lone run against him coming in the third on a solo home run by Jake Meyers. The 39-year-old has logged a 2.96 ERA and a 23:4 K:BB across 27.1 innings heading into the All-Star break. Rotowire.com Sunday, 9:22 pm

    • Takes tough-luck loss
Blanco (9-4) took the loss Sunday against the Rangers, allowing two runs on two hits and two walks with five strikeouts across six innings.

Advice: All the damage against Blanco came in the first inning, when Josh Smith launched a two-run home run. However, the Astros managed to score only one run until the ninth inning, sticking Blanco with the loss despite logging a quality start. The 30-year-old has been outstanding this season, owning a 2.56 ERA and a 0.97 WHIP over 109.0 innings at the All-Star break. Before 2024, Blanco had a career 4.78 ERA in 58.1 innings and had primarily been utilized out of the bullpen, making him one of baseball's biggest breakouts so far. • Pulled after three innings
Keller didn't factor into the decision Sunday against the White Sox, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks over three innings. He struck out three.

Advice: The Pirates opted not to bring Keller out for the fourth inning, providing the 28-year-old with additional rest ahead of the All-Star Break. Keller has thrown 114.1 innings in the first half of the campaign and is on pace to shatter his career highs in starts and innings pitched, so it's possible the Pirates monitor Keller's workload during the back half of 2024. Still, Keller should be a strong fantasy option when on the mound, as he has posted a 3.46 ERA with 105 strikeouts this season while cruising to a 10-5 record. Rotowire.com Sunday, 9:19 pm

    • Logan Gilbert goes seven scoreless in no-decision
Logan Gilbert shut out the Angels for seven innings, striking out nine, in a no-decision Sunday.

Advice: Gilbert allowed just two hits before leaving with a 2-0 lead. Unfortunately, it disappeared immediately in the eighth, as Ryne Stanek hurt himself on a leadoff walk and Austin Voth went on to give up a three-run homer to take a loss. It’s the fifth time this season that Gilbert has gone without allowing a run. He’s a worthy All-Star as he finishes the first half with a 2.79 ERA, but he won’t get to pitch in the game after working today. Rotoworld Sunday, 5:49 pm
