    Gavin Sheets homered, walked twice and scored three runs Friday against the Red Sox.

    Advice: Major league players had scored three runs in a game 159 times this season coming into the night, but this is the first time a White Sox player had done so. It’s also the first time Sheets has reached the mark in his 354 career games. It actually puts him at exactly 100 runs scored for his career. He’s been perfectly solid in hitting .235/.341/.417 for the White Sox.     Blue Jays recalled 1B Spencer Horwitz from Triple-A Buffalo.

    Advice: Horwitz was great at Buffalo, batting .335/.456/.514, but the Jays hadn’t called him up because it didn’t seem like he’d be able to coexist with fellow left-handed hitter Daniel Vogelbach. They’ll give it a try now, in part because they’ve grown at least somewhat comfortable with the idea of using Vladimir Guerrero Jr. at third base. He's played mostly at second base as of late, but the 26-year old has the versatility to also fill in at first base or the corner outfield. He's also played mostly second base over that stretch, and that could be a path to playing time for him with the big club if the Jays would prefer to use Davis Schneider more in left field.
