    • Hunter Goodman homers twice, drives in five
      Hunter Goodman homered twice, picked up four hits and drove in five runs in a 16-4 shellacking of the Pirates on Saturday.

      Advice: Goodman also scored three runs in a monster game for the 24-year-old. There haven’t been many for the infielder/backstop, but he showed off his impressive raw power with a pair of homers to center; one a solo shot and the other a two-run blast. Even with the big effort Goodman is only hitting .203/.247/.449, but that pop and his friendly home confines certainly make him a name to keep an eye on. Rotoworld 48 minutes ago

    • Ty Blach holds Pirates to two runs in victory
      Ty Blach held the Pirates to a pair of runs in 5 2/3 innings in a victory over the Pirates on Saturday.

      Advice: Blach gave up seven hits and issued one walk with five strikeouts. The veteran southpaw continues to give up plenty of baserunners — 25 hits allowed over his last three starts — but he was able to get out of jams for the most part to get his third win of the season.     • Jared Jones allows six runs in loss to Rockies
      Jared Jones allowed six runs over his 4 2/3 innings while picking up a loss to the Rockies on Saturday.

      Advice: Jones was not great, and the Pittsburgh bullpen allowed 10 more runs to score in a 16-4 blowout loss to the Rockies. The right-hander gave up six hits, and he also walked four on a night where the command just wasn’t there for the 22-year-old. He still was able to strike out six, and his rookie campaign has certainly been a success even with a couple of so-so outings as of late.       Kirby (6-5) allowed an unearned run on three hits and two walks while striking out six over six innings to earn the win Saturday over the Rangers.

      Advice: This was Kirby's first time issuing multiple walks since his season debut, as he continues to have some of the best control in the majors. The right-hander has allowed two or fewer runs in each of his last four starts after a pair of five-run outings in mid-May. He's now at a 3.54 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 84:9 K:BB over 86.1 innings through 15 starts this year. Kirby is projected to make his next start at Miami in a highly favorable matchup.       Gavin Lux drove in two runs in a loss Saturday to the Dodgers.

    • Bobby Witt Jr. steals 20th base of year in victory
      Bobby Witt Jr. stole a base while going 2-for-5 in a victory for the Royals over the Dodgers on Saturday.

      Advice: Witt Jr. also drove in a run with his single in the seventh, and it gave the Royals a 6-2 cushion. The star shortstop’s theft gives him 20 on the season, and there’s a good chance he’s going to pass the 49 swipes that he picked up in 2023.     • MJ Melendez hits grand slam in win over Dodgers
      MJ Melendez hit a grand slam to help the Royals to a 7-2 win over the Dodgers on Saturday.

      Advice: WIth the bases full, Melendez took Blake Treinen deep to give the Royals a 5-2 lead. The 25-year-old outfielder has been a significant disappointment in 2024, but he’s at least starting to show some pop with three homers in the month of June; all of them coming in the last eight games.     • Lugo gets 10th win after six strong vs. Dodgers
      Seth Lugo gave up two runs in six innings to get a win against the Dodgers on Saturday.

      Advice: The victory is already the 10th of the season for Lugo. The right-hander allowed a two-run single to Gavin Lux in the fourth, but outside of that he handled the Dodgers lineup without many issues. He scattered six hits allowed while walking just one and striking out four. Lugo has been excellent in 2024, and it’d be a surprise if he wasn’t an All-Star at this point.     • Cooper Criswell strikes out six in no-decision
      Cooper Criswell pitched decently in a no-decision against the Yankees on Saturday, allowing two runs on three hits over four frames against the Yankees.

      Advice: On the plus side, the 27-year-old right-hander punched out six batters on the night while allowing two free passes. All of the damage done against him came in the second inning on a two-run single off the bat of DJ LeMahieu. Criswell got nine whiffs on 88 pitches on the night, registering a strong CSW of 33 percent. He’ll carry a 4.15 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and a 49/13 K/BB ratio (52 innings) into Friday’s matchup against the Reds in Cincinnati. Rotoworld Today, 7:32 pm
