Angels recalled RHP Davis Daniel from Triple-A Salt Lake.
Advice: Daniel will make his season debut on Thursday evening against the Tigers after posting a pedestrian 5.33 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 82/25 K/BB ratio across 76 innings (14 starts) this season for Triple-A Salt Lake. The 27-year-old righty made three relief appearances last year for Los Angeles in his first taste of the majors. RotoworldToday, 2:53 pm
The Angels recalled Daniel from Triple-A Salt Lake to start Thursday's game versus Detroit.
Advice: Daniel has yet to pitch in the majors this season despite joining the active roster for one day in May. He posted a 2.19 ERA and 1.30 WHIP through 12.1 innings across three games with the Halos last season, but fantasy managers should expect results closer to his Triple-A statline (5.33 ERA, 1.50 WHIP in 76 innings) as he makes his first career MLB start Thursday. Guillermo Zuniga was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move. Rotowire.comToday, 2:43 pm
India went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Wednesday's 6-1 loss to Pittsburgh.
Advice: No one in baseball is hotter than India, who leads MLB with a .571 average and is second in OPS (1.654) over the last seven days. He's hit safely in eight straight contests, going 15-for-29 with four walks, two steals, seven doubles, one home run, three RBI and eight additional runs scored. Rotowire.comToday, 6:08 am
Mullins went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in a 4-2 victory versus the Guardians on Wednesday.
Advice: Mullins broke a 2-2 tie in the seventh inning with a solo shot to right field. The outfielder finished with his fifth multi-hit effort over his past seven contests, a span in which he's batting .407 (11-for-27) with two homers, four RBI and seven runs. Mullins was hitting .170 at the end of the day June 8 but has ridden a recent hot streak to bring that mark up to a more respectable .214. Rotowire.comYesterday, 10:13 pm
Arenado went 1-for-8 over both games of Wednesday's doubleheader versus Atlanta.
Advice: Arenado played all 18 innings Wednesday at third base in his return from a left forearm injury. He didn't make much of an impact at the plate, but it's encouraging to see the 33-year-old play both halves of the twin bill. He's down to a .254/.310/.364 slash line with six home runs, 32 RBI, 26 runs scored and one stolen base over 73 contests this year. The Cardinals have occasionally used Brandon Crawford and Brendan Donovan at the hot corner, and they could continue to be an option there if Arenado is out of the lineup or limited to designated hitter at any point in the future, as his forearm issue is believed to be a lingering one. Jonathan India stays hot with two more hits in loss
Jonathan India went 2-for-4 with an RBI double on Wednesday in the Reds’ loss to the Pirates.
Advice: India was responsible for manufacturing Cincinnati’s lone extra-base hit and run of the contest on Wednesday afternoon as they were unable to solve Luis Ortiz over six frames to open the game before relievers Kyle Nicolas and Aroldis Chapman came out of the bullpen to slam the door. It’s flown a bit under the radar, but India is playing some of the best ball of his career at the moment, batting .365 (35-for-96) with three homers, 20 RBI and four steals over his last 30 games. Kjerstad will start in left field and bat seventh in Wednesday's contest against the Guardians.
Advice: The left-handed-hitting Kjerstad sat out Tuesday's game versus a southpaw, but he's now started both contests against right-handers since being called up from Triple-A Norfolk on Monday. Kjerstad had two hits -- including a double -- in Monday's 3-2 loss. Rotowire.comYesterday, 12:44 pm
Cowser is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Guardians.
Advice: Cowser belted his 10th home run of the season in Tuesday's loss to the Guardians, but he nonetheless finds himself on the bench for the second time during the three-game series. Both of those absences came against right-handed pitchers, so the lefty-hitting Cowser could be in danger of losing out on a regular spot in the outfield to fellow lefty hitter Heston Kjerstad, who will make his second start of the series following his call-up from Triple-A Norfolk on Monday. Rotowire.comYesterday, 12:39 pm
Even though he homered Tuesday, Colton Cowser is on the bench in favor of Heston Kjerstad on Wednesday.
Advice: This hardly seems fair to Cowser. A left-handed hitter, he’s now been on the bench the last two times the Orioles have faced a righty and started both games against lefties, even though he has perfectly normal splits (.769 OPS versus righties, .679 OPS against lefties). If the Orioles keep using him like this, there’s a good chance they’ll eventually have a better excuse for sending him down. RotoworldYesterday, 12:32 pm
