      Nathaniel Lowe went 0-for-4 and struck out three times against the Brewers in Monday’s loss.

      Advice: Lowe looked like a long-term answer at first base for the Rangers in 2022, but his power production fell off last year and has continued to decline this season, as he’s managed just two homers and three barrels through 228 plate appearances. His .351 OBP is nice, so it seems unlikely that the Rangers will try to upgrade this summer. However, if he fails to step it up, he’s going to be a non-tender candidate this winter.       Hunter Renfroe went 1-for-2 with a walk and a solo home run against the Marlins on Monday.

      Advice: Signs of life? Renfroe’s home run was his seventh of the year. He’s still only hitting .198 on the year with a .652 OPS. With the Royals optioning Nelson Velasquez to the minors, Renfroe has to understand it’s getting to be that time where he might not keep his job if his numbers don’t improve.     • Report: Garrett Cooper signing with Orioles
      Sources told SportsGrid’s Craig Mish that Garrett Cooper is signing a minor league deal with the Orioles.

      Advice: The Orioles aren’t lacking for first base/DH/corner outfield options, so Cooper doesn’t seem like a great fit here, though it would give him a chance at a World Series ring.       Advice: Black sat against a lefty in his first day back in the majors, but he had started versus four straight righties since. Tonight, though, the Brewers wanted to give Christian Yelich a day off his feet and put him in the DH spot. Black is 3-for-11 with three walks since being recalled. The Brewers aren’t currently interested in putting Black anywhere other than first base or DH, so when Yelich or someone else besides Rhys Hoskins DHs, there’s no room for Black.     • Signs minors deal with Orioles
      The Orioles signed Cooper to a minor-league contract Monday, Craig Mish of the Miami Herald reports.

      Advice: Cooper was cut loose by the Red Sox earlier this month after slashing just .206/.267/.299 between his time there and with the Cubs.
