    • Returns to action
Wong started at catcher and went 1-for-4 with an RBI in Friday's 9-2 loss to the Padres.

Advice: Wong made his first start since coming off the paternity list Thursday and extended a hit streak to 14 games (18-for-52, .346). Three months into the season and Wong is maintaining a .328 average, nearly 100 points higher than his career average entering 2024 (.232). Red Sox hitting coach Pete Fatse credits Wong being more direct with his swing path which has led to more zone contact, per Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe. The catcher's zone-contact percentage is up from 76.2 last season to 83.2 in 2024. He's also chasing less this season. Rotowire.com Saturday, 9:00 am
    • Sitting Saturday
Maile isn't in the Reds' lineup for Saturday's game against the Cardinals.

Advice: After going 0-for-6 to begin the series, Maile will get a breather against Sonny Gray and the Cardinals on Saturday. Austin Wynns will take over behind the plate and bat ninth. Rotowire.com Saturday, 8:44 am

    • Enters starting lineup
Maile started at catcher and went 0-for-3 in Friday's 1-0 loss to the Cardinals.

Advice: Primary catcher Tyler Stephenson was added to the paternity list Friday, which means Maile could handle the catching duties over the weekend. Maile is batting .188/.288/.281 over 37 games. Rotowire.com Saturday, 7:12 am

    • Adds to huge June
Higashioka went 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in Friday's 9-2 win over the Red Sox.

Advice: All nine of the Padres' runs came in an incredible fifth inning that saw them bat around before recording an out, and Higashioka got the offensive eruption started by crushing a Nick Pivetta sweeper over the Green Monster. The veteran backstop is having the best month of his career in June, batting .292 (14-for-48) over 16 games with an eye-popping eight homers and 19 RBI -- his career high in homers for a season is only 10. Luis Campusano (thumb) is expected back off the IL in early July, but he will have a hard time wresting significant playing time back from Higashioka given the latter's current form. • Miguel Amaya strikes out twice, gets lifted
Miguel Amaya struck out in both of his at-bats before being replaced by a pinch-hitter Friday against the Brewers.

Advice: It’s hard not to think that Yan Gomes would still be with the Cubs if Amaya weren’t hitting so badly that the team felt it had to make some sort of change. Amaya is currently at .192/.251/.263 in 184 plate appearances. Statcast believes he’s been quite unlucky, but just to the point at which he should be merely significantly below average, rather than having the sixth worst OPS among all players with 150 plate appearances. • Rejoining Cincinnati
The Reds selected Wynns' contract from Triple-A Louisville on Friday.

Advice: The 33-year-old will rejoin the Reds with starting catcher Tyler Stephenson being placed on the paternity list. Wynns is slashing .250/.309/.410 with 16 RBI this season in Louisville. Rotowire.com Friday, 1:02 pm

    • Reds call up Austin Wynns from Triple-A
Reds selected the contract of C Austin Wynns from Triple-A Louisville.

Advice: The move comes just three days after he was outright to Triple-A. He’ll serve as the backup to Luke Maile for the next couple of days. Rotoworld Friday, 1:01 pm

    • Sitting again Thursday
Rogers is not in Thursday's lineup against the Angels.

Advice: Rogers will sit for the second straight game, perhaps getting an extended breather after collecting just three hits across his last 29 at-bats. Carson Kelly is behind the dish and will hit ninth. Rotowire.com Thursday, 5:12 pm

    • Marlins release catcher Christian Bethancourt
      Marlins released C Christian Bethancourt.

Advice: So much for sticking around as emergency organizational depth. Bethancourt went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment last week by the Marlins. The 32-year-old veteran backstop batted just .159/.198/.268 with two homers in 88 plate appearances over 38 games this season before being cut loose. Rotoworld Thursday, 4:55 pm
