    • Victorious again
Woo (2-0) earned the win Tuesday, yielding two hits and no walks with seven strikeouts across six scoreless innings against the Yankees.

Advice: Woo's been excellent to start 2024, allowing just one run across 15.2 innings after missing the first month of the campaign with elbow inflammation. The 24-year-old still seems to be on a pitch count, as he only threw 77 pitches Tuesday and hasn't exceeded 80 pitches in a start this year. He's projected to make another start Sunday at Washington. • Locks down ninth save
Alvarado earned the save in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Rangers, allowing one hit while striking out two in a scoreless ninth inning.

Advice: The Rangers got the tying run to the plate with one out in the ninth after an error and a Leody Taveras base hit. However, Alvarado would proceed to strike out Marcus Semien and Corey Seager, picking up his ninth save in a 5-2 win. While the Phillies have utilized a modified committee approach to the ninth inning, the left-handed Alvarado has established himself as their preferred closing option. His ERA sits at 3.54 with a 1.03 WHIP and 20:7 K:BB across 20.1 innings. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 7:19 pm

    • Woo dominates over six scoreless innings vs. Yanks
Bryan Woo pitched six scoreless innings while striking out seven to earn the win on Tuesday against the Yankees.

Advice: Woo allowed just two hits in this one and didn’t walk a batter. The second-year pro has now allowed just one earned run over three starts and 15 2/3 innings this season since being activated from the 15-day injured list on May 10th. Woo is now 2-0 with a 0.57 ERA and 0.51 WHIP. He’ll look to keep his hot start going on Sunday against the Nationals. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:13 pm

    • José Alvarado closes out win for Phillies
José Alvarado pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn a save in the Phillies’ 5-2 win over the Rangers.

Advice: Alvarado did allow a hit, but he also struck out two and was in no real danger in the inning as he picked up his ninth save of the year. Despite it seeming like the Phillies would go to a closer-by-committee situation earlier in the year, Alvarado has recorded four of the team’s six saves during the month and has now allowed eight hits while striking out six and walking none in 8 2/3 innings. We wouldn’t go so far as to say the job is fully his, but he’s clearly far out in front of the pack. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:10 pm

    • Jon Gray exits Tuesday start with groin tightness
Jon Gray was removed from Tuesday’s start against the Phillies with right groin tightness.

Advice: That explains why Gray was finished after just 75 pitches (50 strikes) over five frames in an abbreviated outing. The 32-year-old righty was charged with two runs on four hits with four strikeouts and three walks. The severity of the injury is a bit murky at the moment, but there should be some clarity on his status at some point in the near future. It’s unclear whether he’ll be ready to make his next start on Sunday against the Twins. Rotoworld Tuesday, 6:38 pm

    • Exits start with groin tightness
Manager Bruce Bochy said Tuesday that Gray was removed from his start against the Phillies due to right groin tightness, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Gray was able to get through five innings before exiting his start, allowing two earned runs on four hits and three walks while striking out four batters. Bochy didn't specify how severe Gray's injury is, so it remains unclear if the right-hander is at risk of missing his next start, which is tentatively scheduled for Sunday in Minnesota. • Gerrit Cole (elbow) not ruling out June return
Gerrit Cole (elbow) faced hitters on Tuesday in a 22-pitch live batting practice session.

Advice: Cole told reporters afterwards that he came out of facing hitters for the first time since landing on the injured list back in spring training without any issues. The 33-year-old fantasy ace added that he wouldn’t rule out a potential return at some point next month. He’ll presumably face hitters a couple more times before heading out for a handful of minor league rehab starts to build up his pitch count and stamina. Rotoworld Tuesday, 1:31 pm

    • Could return in June
Cole (elbow) faced live hitters Tuesday and will throw another live session this weekend, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Advice: Cole faced hitters for the first time since being shut down with elbow inflammation. He threw about 20 pitches in what's expected to be the first of two or three total live sessions. Cole will be eligible to return from the 60-day injured list before the end of May, but he'll require a multi-start rehab assignment and is still at least a few weeks away from making his season debut, likely at some point in June. • Improves to 7-1
Sale (7-1) earned the win over San Diego in the second game of Monday's doubleheader, allowing five hits and no walks while striking out nine batters over seven scoreless innings.

Advice: Sale dominated a Padres offense that had put up 18 runs in winning the first three games of the series, racking up 18 swinging strikes and registering his third straight scoreless outing. The left-hander fell one punchout shy of his second double-digit strikeout effort of the campaign and has now fanned at least nine batters in four straight appearances, recording exactly nine strikeouts three times during that span. Sale has accumulated 19 scoreless frames over his past three starts with a 28:1 K:BB during that span, giving Atlanta a dominant hurler to help ease the early season loss of Spencer Strider (elbow). Sale is tied for second in the league with seven victories, ranks 11th with a 2.22 ERA and is tied for fifth with 70 punchouts. Rotowire.com Monday, 11:26 pm
