• Swipes bag Monday
Herrera went 2-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Monday's 7-4 loss to the Astros.

Advice: Herrera's two steals this year have come over his last eight games. The catcher has gone 8-for-31 (.258) in that span, but he has just two extra-base hits, one RBI and one run scored. For the season, he's batting .269 with a .691 OPS, three home runs, three doubles, 16 RBI and 15 runs scored over 150 plate appearances. While there hasn't been a lot of power in his bat, Herrera has hit well enough to maintain the starting job over Pedro Pages while Willson Contreras (forearm) remains out. • Homers in back-to-back games
Burleson went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Monday's 7-4 loss to the Astros.

Advice: This was Burleson's second straight game with a homer after he went 12 contests without one. The 25-year-old is up to seven homers through 51 contests in 2024, one long ball shy of matching his total from 107 games last year. He's added a reliable .271/.299/.429 slash line with 21 RBI, 16 runs scored and two stolen bases over 177 plate appearances. Rotowire.com 9 minutes ago

  • Pavin Smith hits walkoff homer for D-backs
Pinch-hitter Pavin Smith hit a two-run homer off Randy Rodriguez in the bottom of the ninth to give the Diamondbacks a 4-2 win over the Giants on Monday.

Advice: Smith’s 424-foot shot to center would have been a double had it turned a few inches to the left, but that still would have been enough to win the game. It was Smith’s second homer in 50 plate appearances this season and 30th in 1,144 trips to the plate since he debuted in 2020. He’s probably in line for a demotion to Triple-A once Alek Thomas comes off the IL, but the Diamondbacks were certainly happy to have him around tonight. Rotoworld Today, 9:49 pm

  • Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hits 100th career homer in win
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hit his 100th career homer Monday against the Giants.

Advice: Gurriel entered June in the midst of a six-week slump, but he’s now homered in back-to-back games to start the month. He’s certainly worth trying in leagues in which he was dropped. Rotoworld Today, 9:49 pm
  • Heliot Ramos goes 2-for-4, homers in defeat
Heliot Ramos went 2-for-4 and hit his fourth homer Monday against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: The Giants lose some defense by playing Ramos over Luis Matos or Mike Yastrzemski with Michael Conforto back, but it’s going to be worth it for as long as Ramos remains hot. He’s batting .295/.361/.477 in 97 plate appearances, and while he’s not going to maintain that average, there’s a lot to like about his exit velocity numbers. Rotoworld Today, 9:49 pm

  • Launches fifth homer
Gallo went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Monday's 8-7 loss to the Mets.

Advice: Gallo launched his fifth home run of the season, but he has seen his playing time decrease over the past week. The 30-year-old has started just four of the past seven contests following a streak of 10-consecutive starts. Gallo will need to clean up his dismal .156 average and 45 percent strikeout rate to garner consistent playing time moving forward. Rotowire.com Today, 9:21 pm

  • Luis Guillorme delivers go-ahead sac fly for Halos
Luis Guillorme came off the bench to deliver a go-ahead sac fly in the bottom of the eighth as the Angels edged the Padres 2-1 on Monday.

Advice: For some reason, the Angels bypassed the squeeze opportunity with Guillorme up, a man on third and one out in the eighth. Guillorme instead delivered a ball deep enough into center field to plate Jo Adell from third. It was his second RBI in 15 games with the Angels. Rotoworld Today, 9:19 pm

  • Luis Arraez (shoulder) doesn’t play against Angels
Luis Arraez, day-to-day with a shoulder injury, was quite obviously not available as a pinch-hitter Monday in a 2-1 loss to the Angels.

Advice: Padres manager Mike Shildt indicated before the game that Arraez might be available off the bench tonight but then held him out while using David Peralta and Tyler Wade as pinch-hitters in the seventh and ninth innings, respectively. It could be a sign that the Padres are downplaying their concern with Arraez’s shoulder after he was injured Sunday. We’ll check back in on Tuesday. Rotoworld Today, 9:19 pm

  • Goes deep, swipes bag
Machado went 1-for-2 with a solo home run, two walks and a stolen base in Monday's loss to the Angels.

Advice: Machado's solo shot in the first inning was the lone run for the Padres in Monday's loss. He was intentionally walked twice and also stole his fourth base of the year. The long ball snapped a brutal 26-game drought since his last homer May 3; during that cold streak, he posted a .591 OPS. Machado is now slashing .242/.307/.372 with 17 extra-base hits and 32 RBI through 244 plate appearances this season. Rotowire.com Today, 9:04 pm
