    • Dominates again Tuesday
Miller, who'd pitched just once in the previous 11 games entering Tuesday's extra-inning loss to the Astros, threw 14 fastballs of at least 100.5 mph on his 29 pitches during his two scoreless innings, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Miller's arm was clearly fresh, and manager Mark Kotsay deployed his closer for multiple innings in the tie game as a result. Miller rewarded him by recording five strikeouts -- including of the noteworthy trio of Jose Altuve, Yordan Alvarez and Jeremy Pena -- over his 29 pitches. The elite velocity helped Miller to his 13th straight scoreless outing and extended his career-high scoreless streak to 17.1 innings. The improved but still inconsistent Athletics have afforded Miller just eight save chances among his 14 appearances, but he's converted each and now boasts a minuscule 0.98 ERA and 0.65 WHIP alongside a 38:5 K:BB across 18.1 innings. • Blake Snell to make rehab start Friday at Triple-A
Blake Snell (adductor) will make another minor league rehab start on Friday for Triple-A Sacramento.

Advice: Snell will require one additional tune-up prior to returning to San Francisco’s starting rotation at some point later next week. The 31-year-old southpaw has been on the shelf since late April due to a left adductor strain. He struck out seven batters last Sunday in a dominant rehab outing for Single-A San Jose. • Next rehab start Friday
Snell (thigh) will make another rehab start at Triple-A Sacramento on Friday, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Snell fired four perfect innings while striking out seven batters during his first rehab outing at Single-A San Jose, though he'll be facing some tougher competition during his next start. Assuming everything goes smoothly, Friday is expected to be the 31-year-old's final game in the minors, putting him in line to return from the IL and start May 23 against the Pirates. • Escapes with no-decision
Yamamoto allowed four runs on five hits and two walks while striking out six over 5.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Giants on Monday.

Advice: The Giants took an early lead with Luis Matos' three-run home run in the second inning, and Heliot Ramos added an RBI single in the sixth, which ended Yamamoto's start. This ended Yamamoto's run of four straight quality starts. The right-hander has four scoreless outings on his ledger, but he's also given up three or more runs four times in nine starts. He's at a strong 3.21 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 53:10 K:BB over 47.2 innings this season. Yamamoto is projected to make his next start at home versus the Reds. Rotowire.com Monday, 10:37 pm
    • Shota Imanaga fans eight over five shutout frames
Shota Imanaga struck out eight over five shutout innings on Monday in a no-decision against the Braves.

Advice: Imanaga continues to be an unexpected revelation in his Cubs debut, allowing two earned runs or fewer for the eighth consecutive start in this one. The 30-year-old southpaw silenced Atlanta’s formidable lineup, scattering seven hits and three walks over five scoreless frames. He induced a staggering 18 swinging strikes and finished with a 27 percent CSW, needing 98 pitches (58 strikes) to get through five innings. He’ll bring a sublime 0.96 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 51/8 K/BB ratio across 46 2/3 innings (eight starts) into a favorable home outing on Saturday against the Pirates. Rotoworld Monday, 7:45 pm
    • Fans eight in no-decision
Imanaga did not factor into the decision Monday against Atlanta, allowing seven hits and three walks over five shutout innings. He struck out eight.

Advice: With his five shutout frames Monday, Imanaga shaved his ERA down to 0.96, a sterling mark for his first 46.2 major league innings. However, the Atlanta offense made the Cubs lefty work hard for his scoreless night as they had 10 baserunners and drew three walks, both setting season-highs allowed for Imanaga. He draws a much easier opponent in his next start, scheduled against Pittsburgh at home this upcoming weekend. Rotowire.com Monday, 7:31 pm
    • Expects another rehab start
Snell (adductor) said that he expects to make another rehab start before returning from the 15-day injured list, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Snell had a dominant first rehab start with Single-A San Jose on Sunday, throwing an immaculate inning on his way to seven strikeouts across four perfect frames. The lefty threw just 46 pitches in the outing but did get in an additional 15 tosses in the bullpen after the appearance. Snell noted that the decision on where he will pitch next will ultimately be made by manager Bob Melvin and the team's medical staff, but the southpaw believes he could use another tune-up against stiffer competition. Snell is tracking toward a return from the IL early next week. Rotowire.com Monday, 9:12 am

    • Four perfect frames in rehab start
Snell (adductor) struck out seven over four perfect innings in his first rehab start with Single-A San Jose on Sunday.

Advice: Snell even completed an immaculate inning in the first as part of an impressive showing from the southpaw. The results should be taken with a grain of salt given the level of competition, but the bottom line for Snell was certainly encouraging. Snell got his pitch count up to 46 in his four efficient frames, which would seem to point to him needing at least one more rehab start before being activated from the 15-day injured list. He's been out since late April with a Grade 2 adductor strain. Rotowire.com Monday, 6:44 am

    • Blake Snell dominates in rehab start on Sunday
Blake Snell delivered a dominant performance in his minor league rehab start at Single-A San Jose on Sunday, retiring all 12 hitters that he faced in order — seven of them via the strikeout.

Advice: Of course that’s the type of dominance that you would expect from a reigning National League Cy Young award winner squaring off against Single-A competition. Nonetheless, it was nice to see Snell pitching well on a mound once again. He only threw 46 pitches in the outing, so it’s unclear if he’ll require another minor league tune-up to get stretched out further, or if he’ll be deemed ready to return to the Giants’ rotation after this one.
