Kirby (4-3) earned the win over Kansas City on Monday, allowing three hits and no walks while striking out six batters over seven scoreless innings.

Advice: Kirby was shaky to begin his outing, allowing a single to the second hitter he faced and then loading the bases on consecutive hit-by-pitches. He worked his way out of that threat, though, and yielded just two harmless singles the rest of the way to finish with his fourth scoreless start of the campaign. The right-hander had an 8.16 ERA through three starts this season but has lowered that to 3.58 by giving up two or fewer runs in five of his subsequent six appearances. George Kirby held the Royals to three hits with six strikeouts in seven shutout innings to help the Mariners to a win Monday by a 6-2 score.

Advice: After struggling for the majority of his start against the Twins, Kirby bounced back nicely. As is usually the case, he didn’t put on any runners via walk, and he pounded the strike zone with 68-of-101 pitches going for strikes. Spencer Torkelson slugged a go-ahead two-run homer on Monday, lifting the Tigers to a 6-5 victory over the Marlins.

Advice: It was a big-time moment for Torkelson, who desperately needed one after a rocky few weeks to start to the year. The 24-year-old former first-overall pick connected for a go-ahead blast off Marlins reliever Anthony Maldonado in the eighth inning for just his second round-tripper of the season. It’s difficult to pinpoint the root of his struggles, especially since his plate skills have remained adequate, but he’s coming off a 31-homer campaign and should start hitting for more power once the weather warms up. After DHing and going 2-for-5 in the first game of his rehab assignment, Chas McCormick (hamstring) is expected to play outfield for Double-A Corpus Christi on Tuesday.

Advice: He’ll play again Wednesday before the Astros decide whether to activate him. The Astros will have an awfully crowded outfield then, what with Joey Loperfido, Jake Meyers and Mauricio Dubón all playing well at the moment. The Mariners list Woo (forearm) as their probable starter for Wednesday's game against the Royals in Seattle.

Advice: Woo missed the first six weeks of the regular season with right elbow inflammation before returning from the 15-day injured list Friday after a trio of successful rehab starts. The right-hander was cruising through his first start of the season with the Mariners in Friday's 8-1 win over the Athletics, but he was lifted after 4.1 scoreless innings and 62 pitches upon experiencing forearm tightness. Though the fact that Woo is dealing with an injury that's seemingly related to the one that kept him on the shelf earlier this season isn't ideal, manager Scott Servais downplayed concern about the forearm issue after the game. The Mariners are still seemingly anticipating that Woo will be ready to go for his next turn through the rotation Wednesday, though fantasy managers will still want to keep tabs on his status leading up to the day of the game just to ensure the team hasn't scratched him from the start.
