    • DFA'd by Milwaukee
The Brewers designated Hernandez for assignment Wednesday.

Advice: The 29-year-old signed a one-year contract with Milwaukee on June 8 and delivered 5.2 scoreless frames in his first three appearances, but he allowed two runs on two hits while recording just one out Tuesday in Anaheim. Hernandez has a 6.32 ERA and 8:5 K:BB over 15.2 innings between his time with the Brewers and Dodgers this year. Rotowire.com Today, 3:46 pm
    • Recalled by Milwaukee
The Brewers recalled Blalock from Double-A Biloxi on Wednesday.

Advice: Blalock was sent down by Milwaukee in late May but is back with the big club ahead of Wednesday's series finale in Anaheim. The 23-year-old was up with the Brewers for a few days but is still looking to make his MLB debut. Rotowire.com Today, 3:42 pm
    • Kyle Hendricks whiffs eight in win over Giants
Kyle Hendricks struck out eight and allowed one run over 5 2/3 innings on Wednesday in a win over the Giants.

Advice: Hendricks carried a no-hit bid into the sixth inning on Wednesday afternoon at Wrigley Field before coughing up a leadoff double to Thairo Estrada, who came around to score later in the frame on a ground out from Heliot Ramos. He induced 14 swinging strikes and finished with a near-elite 39 percent CSW. It was his strongest outing of the season by a considerable margin. The soft-tossing 34-year-old veteran is too risky to trust in shallow mixed leagues in the wake of his early-season struggles, but he’s making the most of his opportunity to step back into Chicago’s injury-ravaged starting rotation. He’ll take the ball on Tuesday in a rematch against the Giants out in San Francisco at Oracle Park. Rotoworld Today, 3:34 pm

    • Patrick Corbin strikes out seven in no-decision
Patrick Corbin pitched well in a no-decision against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday, racking up seven strikeouts over five innings of one-run baseball.

Advice: The 34-year-old southpaw scattered just three hits and three walks on the afternoon. The lone tally against him came as Corbin issued a one-out walk to Gabriel Moreno with the bases loaded in the third inning. He battled back though to strike out Blaze Alexander and then got Geraldo Perdomo to pop out to end the threat. Unfortunately, the Nationals didn’t take the lead until the sixth inning, which cost him any shot at a victory here. Corbin got 11 swings and misses on 90 pitches in the game, posting a solid CSW of 30 percent. He’ll try to further improve upon his 5.60 ERA and 1.60 WHIP when he takes the hill against the Padres on Monday in San Diego. Rotoworld Today, 3:33 pm

    • Brandon Pfaadt logs quality start in loss to Nats
Brandon Pfaadt logged a quality start in Wednesday afternoon’s loss to the Nationals, giving up three runs on five hits across his 6 1/3 innings of work.

Advice: The 25-year-old right-hander astonishingly did not record a strikeout in the contest while issuing four free passes. Still, he managed to keep the Nats off the board completely until Jesse Winker’s go-ahead two-run shot in the sixth inning. He then exited with two men on and one out in the seventh inning, and one of those runners ultimately came around to score as well. Pfaadt didn’t get a single swing and miss on any of his 77 pitches in the contest, registering an underwhelming CSW of only 23 percent. He’ll carry a 4.37 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and an 84/22 K/BB ratio (90 2/3 innings) into Tuesday’s matchup against the Twins. Rotoworld Today, 3:27 pm

    • Activated ahead of start
The Yankees reinstated Cole (elbow) from the 60-day injured list Wednesday.

Advice: Cole has been on the injured list all season due to nerve irritation in his right elbow, but he will now officially return to the Yankees' rotation and make his season debut Wednesday against the Orioles. The 33-year-old righty was dominant during his three rehab starts, posting a minuscule 0.73 ERA while striking out 19 batters and walking none in 12.1 innings. However, he only built up to 68 pitches during his time in the minors, so he will likely be working under some sort of restriction during his return to a big-league mound. Anthony Rizzo (arm) was transferred to the 60-day IL to make room for Cole on the 40-man roster. Rotowire.com Today, 3:18 pm

    • Yankees activate Gerrit Cole for 2024 season debut
Yankees activated RHP Gerrit Cole from the 60-day injured list.

Advice: The 33-year-old hurler is finally ready to make his highly anticipated 2024 season debut against the Orioles on Wednesday. He looked fantastic in three minor league rehab starts, registering a 0.73 ERA, 0.49 WHIP and a 19/1 K/BB ratio over 12 1/3 innings. As long as he’s healthy and on the mound, there’s little reason to expect anything other than vintage Gerrit Cole on Wednesday. Rotoworld Today, 3:16 pm

    • Delivers seven scoreless frames
Keller allowed two hits and two walks over seven scoreless innings in a no-decision against the Reds on Wednesday. He struck out seven.

Advice: Keller was locked in Wednesday, holding Cincinnati hitless until the fifth inning, ultimately turning in his second scoreless outing in his last three starts. However, Keller wouldn't factor into the decision as the Pirates couldn't get on the board until Bryan Reynolds homered in the eighth, providing the lone run in a 1-0 victory. Keller's been excellent since the start of May, pitching to a 1.53 ERA over his last eight outings. Overall, the right-hander's 8-4 with a 3.11 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 85:24 K:BB across 15 starts (92.2 innings) this season. Keller will look to keep rolling in his next start, currently scheduled as a rematch with Cincinnati on the road. Rotowire.com Today, 2:45 pm

    • Strikes out nine
Greene allowed just two hits over 6.1 innings in a no-decision Wednesday against the Pirates. He struck out nine.

Advice: Greene was dominant Wednesday, matching a season high with nine strikeouts while turning in his first scoreless outing since May 3. However, the right-hander was stuck with a no-decision as the Reds couldn't break through against Mitch Keller in an eventual 1-0 loss. Still, it was an impressive performance from the 24-year-old Greene, who had struggled to a 5.60 ERA while issuing 12 walks over 17.2 innings in his previous three starts. Overall, he's 5-2 on the year with a 3.35 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 98:37 K:BB across 88.2 innings. Greene's currently scheduled for a rematch with the Pirates at home in his next start.
