      Manager Joe Espada said Tuesday that Garcia (elbow) could begin a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Florida Complex League his weekend, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

      Advice: The 27-year-old threw a 32-pitch live bullpen session over the weekend and is just about ready for game action. Garcia will likely need to throw another bullpen session before being cleared for games, at which point he'll jump into a lengthy rehab assignment as he finishes up his recovery from May 2023 Tommy John surgery.       Astros manager Joe Espada told reporters Tuesday that Justin Verlander (neck) is still making slower progress than anticipated.

      Advice: Espada reiterated that this issue isn’t a shoulder, elbow or arm problem; but strictly issues with neck stiffness. The 41-year-old has been on the injured list since the middle of June with the issue, and at this point, it seems unlikely that we see Verlander back until the middle of July — possibly after the All-Star break.       Advice: Hamilton belted his fifth home run of the season, a two-run shot in the bottom of the eighth inning that narrowed the Red Sox's deficit to 6-4. It continued a renaissance that began mid-May -- Hamilton has an .869 OPS with 17 steals, eight doubles, one triple, four home runs and 13 RBI over the last 36 games. The offensive production has led to Hamilton being a lineup regular, typically at shortstop but sometimes at second base, with the latter an unsettled position at this stage.
