    • On cusp of rehab assignment
Manager Joe Espada said Tuesday that Garcia (elbow) could begin a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Florida Complex League his weekend, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Advice: The 27-year-old threw a 32-pitch live bullpen session over the weekend and is just about ready for game action. Garcia will likely need to throw another bullpen session before being cleared for games, at which point he'll jump into a lengthy rehab assignment as he finishes up his recovery from May 2023 Tommy John surgery. • Luis Garcia (elbow) ready for rehab assignment
Luis Garcia (elbow) will make a minor league rehab start this weekend in the Rookie-level Florida Complex League.

Advice: Astros manager Joe Espada divulged to reporters that Garcia is ready to begin a minor league rehab assignment as he continues to work his way back from last year’s Tommy John surgery. The 27-year-old righty is going to need at least a couple weeks to build up before he’s ready to make his season debut. Fantasy managers shouldn’t expect him back until some point after next month’s All-Star break. Rotoworld Tuesday, 2:15 pm

    • David Hamilton absent from Tuesday’s lineup
David Hamilton is not in the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Blue Jays.

Advice: Hamilton has been playing through a lingering side issue of late and will take a seat on Tuesday night at Fenway Park with veteran righty Kevin Gausman on the mound for Toronto. The 26-year-old speedster figures to make an appearance off the bench at some point in the contest. It’ll be Enmanuel Valdez taking a turn at the keystone to open the game. Rotoworld Tuesday, 1:26 pm
    • Absent from lineup
Hamilton is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Blue Jays.

Advice: Hamilton hit a big home run in the Red Sox' comeback win over the Blue Jays on Monday, but he will begin Tuesday's festivities on the bench. Ceddanne Rafaela is at shortstop and Enmanuel Valdez will play second base. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 12:42 pm
    • Yet to resume throwing
Astros manager Joe Espada said Tuesday that Verlander (neck) has yet to resume throwing, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Verlander has been shut down for more than a week with neck discomfort and continues to progress more slowly than expected. The veteran right-hander is eligible for activation from the 15-day injured list Monday, but it's too early at this point to know whether he will be ready to go on that day. Houston currently has just four members in its rotation, but it will need to add a fifth if Verlander's injury continues to linger. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 10:55 am

    • Justin Verlander (neck) still not ready to throw
Astros manager Joe Espada told reporters Tuesday that Justin Verlander (neck) is still making slower progress than anticipated.

Advice: Espada reiterated that this issue isn’t a shoulder, elbow or arm problem; but strictly issues with neck stiffness. The 41-year-old has been on the injured list since the middle of June with the issue, and at this point, it seems unlikely that we see Verlander back until the middle of July — possibly after the All-Star break. That’s just speculation, however, and there’s no concrete timetable for Verlander rejoining the rotation. Rotoworld Tuesday, 10:49 am

    • Lands on injured list
The Twins placed Paddack on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with right forearm fatigue.

Advice: The right-hander labored in his past two outings with eight runs allowed across six innings, and he's given up at least four runs in five of his past six starts. Paddack will be sidelined for at least the next couple weeks but is without a clear timeline for return. Ronny Henriquez was recalled in a corresponding move to provide some bullpen depth for Minnesota. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 9:47 am

    • Twins place Chris Paddack on IL with arm fatigue
Twins placed RHP Chris Paddack on the 15-day injured list with right arm fatigue.

Advice: Paddack has struggled as of late, and after giving up three runs against the A’s Friday in 4 2/3 innings, his ERA now sits at 5.28 on the season. The right-hander will miss at least a couple of weeks, but there’s no clear timetable for when he’ll return. Ronny Henriquez was recalled from Triple-A to take Paddack’s place on the roster. • Homers in win
Hamilton started at second base and went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Monday's 7-6 win over Toronto.

Advice: Hamilton belted his fifth home run of the season, a two-run shot in the bottom of the eighth inning that narrowed the Red Sox's deficit to 6-4. It continued a renaissance that began mid-May -- Hamilton has an .869 OPS with 17 steals, eight doubles, one triple, four home runs and 13 RBI over the last 36 games. The offensive production has led to Hamilton being a lineup regular, typically at shortstop but sometimes at second base, with the latter an unsettled position at this stage.
