Advice: Estevez had little trouble protecting a two-run, ninth-inning lead, retiring the side in order on 13 pitches. The veteran reliever has turned things around after a rough middle portion of May -- he hasn't allowed a baserunner in seven straight outings, racking up six saves and a win during that span. The veteran hurler completed seven innings for the first time this season and notched his second consecutive quality start. Paxton also tallied a season-high eight punchouts -- three more than his previous top mark in 2024 -- and walked just one batter. There was some uncertainty about Paxton's role after two recent poor starts given that Bobby Miller (shoulder) is set to return this week, but with back-to-back strong outings and with Yoshinobu Yamamoto (shoulder) set to miss several weeks of action, Paxton's place in the rotation looks to be secure. Advice: It’s difficult to predict Paxton’s performances this season. He looked done 10 days ago after giving up seven runs and getting pulled in the second versus the Pirates, but he’s since bounced back by allowing two runs and four hits in 13 innings in his last two starts. The Yoshinobu Yamamoto injury took the idea of stashing Paxton on the IL off the board for the Dodgers. Pivetta (4-4) allowed three runs on nine hits and a walk over seven innings Monday, striking out four and earning a win over Toronto.

Advice: Pivetta gave up one run through five frames before allowing solo homers to Justin Turner and Davis Schneider in the sixth and seventh innings, respectively. Pivetta is 2-0 with a 3.50 ERA in three starts this month after posting a disappointing 5.55 ERA in May. For the season, he owns a 3.88 ERA alongside a 59:14 K:BB through 10 starts. Cobb (hip/shoulder) threw a bullpen session Friday consisting of 30-to-35 pitches, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Cobb resumed throwing off a mound Tuesday with a 25-pitch session, and he felt good enough coming out of that workout to tack on another 5-to-10 pitches to his workload a few days later. The Giants haven't indicated whether Cobb will be ready to face hitters during the upcoming week, or if he'll continue to increase the volume and intensity of his bullpen sessions. Either way, the Giants likely aren't counting on Cobb being ready to make his 2024 debut until around the All-Star break. After undergoing surgery on his left hip Oct. 31, Cobb appeared poised to beat initial projections for his recovery timeline and return from the injured list in the first or second month of the season, but those hopes were dashed after he experienced irritation in his right shoulder in April and again in May, both of which resulted in his throwing program being put on pause for multiple weeks.
