    • Woods Richardson picks up second win vs. Royals
      Simeon Woods Richardson allowed two earned runs over five innings, picking up the win on Tuesday against the Royals.

      Advice: Woods Richardson allowed two runs in the fifth when Garrett Hampson and Kyle Isbel drove in runs in back-to-back plate appearances. He was far from dominant, but Woods Richardson allowed just five total base runners on the night and had the Twins in position to win he made his exit. Tuesday’s win marks his first since April 13th, as Woods Richardson will now look to pick up his third win on Sunday against the Astros. Rotoworld Today, 7:38 pm
       
    • Cole Ragans allows three earned runs in loss
      Cole Ragans allowed nine hits and three earned runs over five innings in Tuesday’s loss to the Twins.

      Advice: Ragans ran into trouble in the first inning when he allowed back-to-back hits to his first two batters faced, only to see both players score on a Jose Miranda single a few batters later. Ragans would allow another run in the fourth on a Manuel Margot double, as the left was hit around for much of the evening. His nine hits allowed tied for the second-most he’s allowed on the season, as Ragans has struggled at times to limit base runners despite a solid 3.49 ERA.     • Eovaldi goes three innings in return from IL
      Nathan Eovaldi allowed two earned runs over three innings in Tuesday’s win over the Diamondbacks.

      Advice: After pitching a perfect first inning, Eovaldi ran into trouble in the second, allowing the first three batters he faced to reach base, with Pavin Smith doubling home Christian Walker to give the Diamondbacks their first run of the night. He would give up another run in the inning on a Eugenio Suárez sacrifice fly. He would only pitch one more inning before being pulled after 37 pitches, functioning somewhat as an opener for the Rangers after the team opted to scratch Dane Dunning from his scheduled start. It was Eovaldi’s first outing since May 2nd after he was placed on the 15-day IL with a groin strain.     • Pfaadt allows four earned runs in loss to Rangers
      Brandon Pfaadt allowed six hits and four earned runs over seven innings in the Diamondbacks’ loss to the Rangers.

      Advice: Pfaadt got some early run support in the second inning but the Diamondbacks were unable to keep pace with the Rangers, who hung three runs on Pfaadt in the fifth inning via a Corey Seager three-run homer. Pfaadt allowed three or more earned runs in three of his five starts in May, and picked up just one win on the month.     • Jordan Wicks strikes out five in rehab outing
      Jordan Wicks (forearm) allowed one run over 3 1/3 innings on Tuesday in a minor league rehab start for Triple-A Iowa.

      Advice: Wicks struck out five and only issued one walk, throwing 52 pitches (31 strikes) in his latest rehab outing. The 24-year-old lefty figures to be ready to return to Chicago’s starting rotation at some point in early June. Rotoworld Today, 7:21 pm

    • Gavin Stone twirls seven-inning gem to beat Mets
      Gavin Stone recorded seven strikeouts over seven shutout innings on Tuesday in a win over the Mets.

      Advice: Stone drew the starting assignment for the nightcap of Tuesday’s twin bill at Citi Field and authored one of his best outings of the year. He scattered three hits, didn’t hand out a free pass, and established a new season-high mark with seven strikeouts. The 25-year-old righty has allowed three earned runs or fewer in eight of his 10 starts this season and will bring a respectable 3.16 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 41/17 K/BB ratio across 57 innings (10 starts) into a road matchup next Wednesday against the Pirates.     • José Quintana allows two homers in loss to Dodgers
      José Quintana allowed three runs over six innings on Tuesday in a loss to the Dodgers.

      Advice: Quintana took the ball for the second game of Tuesday’s doubleheader at Citi Field and was tagged for eight hits, including homers by Will Smith and Miguel Vargas in the first and sixth inning, respectively. He notched three strikeouts and didn’t hand out a free pass. It wasn’t his worst outing of the season, but the veteran lefty got absolutely zero support from New York’s lineup in this one. He’ll bring an inflated 5.06 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 39/18 K/BB ratio across 58 2/3 innings (11 starts) into a road matchup on Monday against the Nationals. Rotoworld Today, 7:08 pm

    • Max Fried stymies Nationals’ bats in win
      Max Fried threw eight shutout innings, allowing seven hits and striking out six in a win over the Nationals.

      Advice: Fried has now allowed just one earned run over 17 innings in his last two starts. However, while he carved up the Cubs in his last time out, Fried managed without his best stuff on Tuesday. He had just nine whiffs on 45 swings for a 20 percent whiff rate and 24 percent CSW on the day; however, the Nationals were only able to muster one extra-base hit and couldn’t capitalize on their seven hits. Aces are able to produce even when they’re not executing as well as they can, and that’s exactly what Fried did tonight. He’ll now take a 2.97 ERA into a start against the A’s on Sunday.     • Jake Irvin gets tough luck no decision on Tuesday
      Jake Irvin threw six shutout innings, allowing just two hits and striking out 10 in a no-decision against the Braves.

      Advice: Irvin kept the Braves guessing all night, allowing an average exit velocity against of just 80 mph while posting a 28 percent whiff rate and 27 percent CSW. His curve was particularly effective on Tuesday, and the right-hander now has a 3.43 ERA on the year. He does have just 54 strikeouts in 63 innings, so he doesn’t have the strikeout upside that tonight’s game would indicate, but he’s been solid all season long and could be a decent streaming option against the Guardians this weekend.
