    • Returns to lineup Thursday
Ward (back) is serving as the Angels' designated hitter and batting third Thursday versus the Diamondbacks, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Ward was taken out of Tuesday's game due to back tightness and had to miss Wednesday's contest as well, but the issue has now seemingly subsided. Since June 1, the 30-year-old outfielder has gone just 4-for-28 with two RBI and two runs while striking out eight times in nine games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:27 pm
    • Taylor Ward returns to lineup at DH on Thursday
Taylor Ward (back) is in the lineup for Thursday’s series finale against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Ward is back at designated hitter and batting third on Thursday evening following a one-game absence for precautionary reasons due to lower back tightness. The 30-year-old slugger, who has 12 homers and two steals in 65 games this season, has been the subject of trade rumors over the last few weeks and could wind up being moved in the coming weeks. • Jacob Young goes 0-for-3 in loss to Tigers
Jacob Young finished 0-for-3 against the Tigers on Thursday and is 2-for-23 in his last seven games.

Advice: Young did have two hard-hit balls today, which is notable considering that his 25% hard-hit rate is among the lowest in the majors. Power isn’t at all Young’s game, but it’s disturbing that his OBP has collapsed. He’s hit .217 and walked just three times in 99 plate appearances since May 10. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:28 pm

    • MRI comes back clean for Jurickson Profar (knee)
Jurickson Profar (knee) underwent a precautionary MRI exam on his injured knee on Wednesday that came back clean for any structural damage.

Advice: Padres’ fans and fantasy managers can breathe a sigh of relief, as one of the biggest surprises of the first half of the season won’t miss substantial time. He’s still considered day-to-day and should return to the Padres’ lineup at some point over the weekend. Rotoworld Wednesday, 8:00 pm

    • Sitting Wednesday
Ward (back) isn't in the Angels' lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Diamondbacks, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Lower-back tightness caused Ward to make an early exit from Tuesday's loss, though the Angels labeled his removal as precautionary. He'll remain sidelined Wednesday while Kevin Pillar starts in left field, batting third. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 3:32 pm
    • Taylor Ward (back) held out of lineup on Wednesday
Taylor Ward (back) was held out of the Angels’ starting lineup for Wednesday evening’s contest against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: The 30-year-old slugger was pulled from Tuesday’s ballgame — as a precautionary measure — due to tightness in his lower back. He’s still considered day-to-day and there haven’t been any rumblings about him requiring a stint on the injured list. Kevin Pillar will start in his place and will bat third for the Halos against Slade Cecconi and the Diamondbacks on Wednesday night in Arizona. Rotoworld Wednesday, 3:30 pm
    • Jurickson Profar is not in the lineup on Wednesday
Jurickson Profar (knee) is not the Padres’ lineup against the Athletics on Wednesday.

Advice: Profar tweaked his knee in Tuesday night’s game and is considered day-to-day for now. The Padres don’t seem to believe an IL stint is necessary, but it will depend on how Profar responds over the next few days. Jose Azocar will start in left field and bat ninth with Profar on the bench. Rotoworld Wednesday, 12:21 pm

    • Taking seat due to sore knee
Profar (knee) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Athletics.

Advice: Profar started in each of the Padres' first 71 games of the season, but he'll hit the bench for the first time after he was forced out of Tuesday's 4-3 win in the eighth inning due to a sore left knee. Manager Mike Shildt disclosed after the contest that Profar has been battling patellar tendinitis in the knee for years, but the 31-year-old aggravated the injury on a swing during his eighth-inning at-bat. Though Shildt downplayed the knee issue, the skipper admitted that he was unsure if Profar -- who leads the National League with a .424 on-base percentage -- would require imaging on the knee, per Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune. Jose Azocar will cover left field Wednesday in place of Profar, whose status will presumably be updated following Thursday's team off day. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 11:36 am

    • Racks up three hits in loss
Burleson went 3-for-4 in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Pirates.

Advice: There wasn't much for the hitters early in this contest, but Burleson was able to account for two of the five runs on Pittsburgh starter Paul Skenes' line. Through 10 games in June, Burleson is batting .286 (12-for-42) with five extra-base hits. He continues to be consistent for the Cardinals with a .283/.314/.455 slash line, nine home runs, 24 RBI, 20 runs scored and two stolen bases over 58 contests this season. Four of his homers have come in June. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 12:10 am
