• Optioned to Triple-A
The Red Sox optioned Uwasawa to Triple-A Worcester on Wednesday.

Advice: Uwasawa permitted just one earned run across four relief innings during his brief stint with Boston. He figures to rejoin the rotation at Worcester. Rotowire.com 3 minutes ago
  • Checking out of starting nine
Lopez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.

Advice: Lopez recently overcame a sore adductor and started at second base in the first two contests of the series in Tampa, going 2-for-7 at the plate. The White Sox haven't indicated that Lopez suffered a setback with the injury, so his absence Wednesday is presumably maintenance-related. Rotowire.com 4 minutes ago

  • Returns from injured list
The Red Sox activated Gonzalez (wrist) from the 10-day injured list Wednesday.

Advice: Gonzalez missed nearly a month of action with a left wrist sprain but has been cleared to return after playing three rehab games. The utility player is starting at first base and batting seventh for Boston on Wednesday in Atlanta. Rotowire.com 4 minutes ago

  • Resting Wednesday
Lee is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.

Advice: He'll bow out of the starting nine for the series finale in what amounts to a maintenance day after he worked behind the plate both of the previous two days. Martin Maldonado will replace Lee as the White Sox's starting catcher. Rotowire.com 6 minutes ago

  • Activated prior to Wednesday start
The Red Sox activated Pivetta (elbow) from the 15-day injured list Wednesday.

Advice: Pivetta will rejoin the Red Sox' rotation Wednesday with a start against Atlanta. The right-hander has been sidelined since April 9 with a right elbow flexor strain but was cleared to return after making one rehab start. He went just three innings and threw only 62 pitches in his lone rehab outing, so Pivetta probably won't be stretched out for a full workload Wednesday. Rotowire.com 7 minutes ago

  • Moves rehab to Triple-A
Gallo (shoulder) went 0-for-4 with a walk, a run and an RBI on Tuesday in a rehab game for Triple-A Syracuse.

Advice: Gallo went 1-for-5 with a solo home run and three walks between a pair of rehab games for Single-A Fredericksburg over the weekend and received the green light to move his assignment to a higher-level affiliate. He served as Syracuse's designated hitter Tuesday but could see action at first base and in the corner outfield for the remainder of his rehab assignment. Gallo may have to settle for a part-time role once the Nationals bring him back from the 10-day injured list. Rotowire.com 10 minutes ago

  • Out 4-to-6 weeks
Reds manager David Bell said Wednesday that Encarnacion-Strand is expected to miss 4-to-6 weeks after tests revealed a new fracture in his right wrist, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Advice: Initial imaging after Encarnacion-Strand was hit on the hand by a pitch late last month came back clean, but subsequent tests revealed a right ulnar styloid fracture. The 24-year-old has hit a disappointing .190/.220/.293 with two home runs in 29 games for the Reds this season. Cincinnati is starting Jeimer Candelario at first base and Santiago Espinal at third base against a left-hander Wednesday. The newly-added Mike Ford will give them an option versus righties. • Rays place Ryan Pepiot (leg) on 15-day IL
Rays placed RHP Ryan Pepiot on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to May 6, with a left lower leg contusion.

Advice: Taj Bradley was activated from the injured list in a corresponding move and will make his 2024 regular season debut on Friday against the Yankees. Fortunately for fantasy managers, Pepiot should only need a minimum stint on the injured list and should be ready to jump right back into the Rays’ rotation when that time comes. • Getting Wednesday off
O'Hearn is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals.

Advice: With southpaw Mitchell Parker on the hill for Washington, the left-handed-hitting O'Hearn will retreat to the bench. Adley Rutschman will get a day off from catching duties and will fill in for O'Hearn as Baltimore's designated hitter. Rotowire.com 17 minutes ago
